Hi NamePros,

Here’s today’s batch of domains caught using the Early Access bid system at Catch.club.

If one of these gems catches your eye — too bad 😉 — they were just registered a few hours ago!

But the good news is, you can grab names like these up to 14 days before the final drop date by joining us at Catch.club.

We’re all about making the process of catching pending delete and expired domains simple, easy, and hassle-free, across hundreds(!) of TLDs.

Quick question — how’s the success rate been lately for premium TLDs like .ai or .media in the early access phase? Do they still move fast right after drop, or is the 1-day window usually enough to grab them before the big registrars do?

My understanding is that the exclusive partnership between .ai and Namecheap means that drop catching .ai domains is only useful for domains that nobody else is interested in. An expired .ai domain will go to auction with Namecheap and then only if there are no bids will it be dropped. If you are interested in an expiring .ai domain then participating in the Namecheap auction is the only way to have a meaningful chance at obtaining the domain.

That said, I'm confused by the .ai domains listed in @Catch.club's post: @Catch.club I can see that an auction took place for mobilegames.ai on Namecheap yesterday and it was won for $10. How were you able to catch this domain? Checking the whois, the domain is registered with Namecheap, not NameSilo. Likewise, bluecap.ai was won at auction on Namecheap yesterday but you've listed it as caught with your service. Visiting your website, .ai isn't listed as a supported TLD so I'm unsure how anyone could use your service to catch a .ai domain.

Any clarity would be much appreciated!

the Early Access System is a dutch auction system. There is 14 days when the domain can be caught, but once the domain is caught (for a higher price called Early Access Fee) the domain is gone, the domain has an owner.

Example: startup.university the person paid at least 400 USD as Early Access Fee (see list above)

--> gTLDs like .ai are free to do what they want, they are not regulated by ICANN domain life cycle. The .ai domains which are pending delete at Catch.club are already pending delete, meaning NameCheap can't recover them anymore, everyone has the same chance of getting the domain including Catch.club customers.

-> mobilegames.ai was registered 1 day before the general availability date, thus the 10 USD won price. The list above is not caught by Catch.club, this list is made of comparing yesterday's pending delete list with today's pending delete list and it is a simple listcompare to see which domains are missing from today's Pending Delete list (you could achieve the same by checking yesterday's pending delete list of .com domains with today's availability getting a list of domains which were most likely caught during droptime (if around 1800 UTC then for sure).

So what you see at NameCheap is the same service you can get at Catch.club, just similarly by ordering at catcher X and catcher B you increase the chance of getting the name, ordering at NameCheap AND Catch.club can increase your chances also.

But in case of popular domains it is a better strategy simply considering the amount you would pay during an after drop auction (what the domain is worth for you) and place the order before/on that day when the Early Access Fee is matching your budget (since in that scenario you do not need to complete with the 10 USD offer guys, you can pocket the domain without any auction for let say 400 USD just like the owner of startup.university did yesterday.

I think you might be confused about Namecheap's relationship to .ai. Namecheap have an exclusive deal with the .ai registry (now Identity Digital) which means every expired .ai domain is auctioned off by Namecheap before it is deleted, Namecheap have exclusive access to all pending delete .ai domains. A .ai domain is only deleted after it has been auctioned by Namecheap without any bids. Namecheap are not drop catching .ai domains, they do not offer a drop catching service.

You said in your opening post "Here’s today’s batch of domains caught using the Early Access bid system at Catch.club." but then go on to say "The list above is not caught by Catch.club" which is where my confusion lies. You may wish to update your opening post to be clearer, as it currently reads as if you are claiming credit for catching all of these domains.

just clarifying that we are on the same page:

Expired auctions -> indeed, there NameCheap has monopoly
Pending delete dropcatching -> the game is fair for any registrar working with Identity Digital

mobilegames.ai -> WAS NOT renewed while expired status, it was caught via early access dropcatching for 10 USD premium. Are we on the same page? :) @shr.ink
