Celebrities and the causes they champion seem to go together these days. It is becoming the norm: Make a name, acquire a cause. It is good that the world's famous are also trying to do some good!

The PERFECT .ORG Domain for all the Socialites and Celebrity Philanthropist!

As a Social Entrepreneurship Organisation, .ORG is the PERFECT EXTENSION!

.ORG is great for non-profits and brands (or bands!) alike... particularly powerful as a .ORG domain, Internet.org was acquired by Mark Zuckerberg, and is going to be the Biggest Philanthropic Project on the Planet.

Celebvocacy

Lets accept quite a few of us are slightly obsessed by celebrity gossip, and an absolute sucker for a celebrity endorsement. Put Beyoncé on a cosmetic product or get David Beckham doing almost anything and we are sold. It is widely accepted, that a celebrity endorsement is a sure fire way to increase awareness of an issue or sales of a product, and this assumption has taken hold of the charity sector with increasing ferocity.

Full-time celebrity liaison officers have become the norm in many of the bigger charities, including UNICEF, Oxfam and the British Red Cross. Celebrity culture and charity campaigns are now ingrained into one another.

And Celebvocacy undeniably has success stories. Politically, those campaigns with a celebrity champion often have more clout than campaigns without. Joanna Lumley fighting for the rights of the Gurkhas to settle in the UK is a brilliant example of a celebrity forcing a Government to act.

Lily Cole founded a social business to encourage gift culture through a social network. Reminiscent of more specialised digital sharing sites such as Freecycle, SoundCloud, Youtube and Twitter – Cole's enterprise aims to encourage people to do and give things to others for free.

Other celebrities, such as Hugh Jackman, have launched physical businesses – in Jackman's case a selection of coffee shops – in order to create fairly paid work for farmers and their families in Ethiopia. Likewise, actress Emma Watson has collaborated with a variety of ethical clothing lines, such as People Tree and Pure Threads, in order to support Fairtrade fashion.
