What time would you say this auction is over at? ... considering that I am on EST.

Thanks

This is no different now than it was before.
In this case my NP screen shows that I posted at 8:45 PM. :snaphappy:
omnia posted at 11:12 PM.

So from what i see here. I won, again! :-/

Hey look, I don't care. Give it to omnia. But I though it is important to address this problem for future.

I know that many NP'rs see the same problem. I make reference to the original post here so that Admins at NP can look at this:

The deadline is based upon the sellers time stamp, and not the buyers timestamp. In Edit Options each member adjusts their forum time settings to what is accurate for the timezone they live in. Buyers can live in several different time zones, the seller can be in only one.
You can check out times in diff parts of the world here:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

rtonia clarified the time zone for the deadline in the thread:
My time is GMT+10 (Sydney, Australia)
It is the responsibility of the bidder to sync the timezone and the deadline to their own timezone. Omnia's $12 bid was the last received before the deadline, and is the winner.

If the auction is important enough to you, one technique is to go into Edit Options and temporarily adjust your forum time to that of the sellers, to make sure you are synced to the sellers zone.

I do understand the confusion, however and have lost out on an auction for a name that I really wanted due to making the same mistake.

Hopefully everyone has their own timezones setup in their profiles. If so, timezones should not matter, if you look at the original post and add 24 hours to whatever time you see there.

In this case omnia's $12 bid was more than 6 hours before the end time. Congrats to buyer and seller.

Right you are. I neglected to see the "24 Hours From Now" in OP which is, undoubtedly , the best way to post an auction deadline. Than, of course, there is no question and no need to be flipping through your time zone settings. My approach would apply if the beginning time stamp and auction duration (24hrs) had not been given, but why overcomplicate matters?

On the last auction I agree it looked to me like you won, but on this one I see omnia as the winner.

1. You havent posted the timestamps you are seeing for the beginning and end of the auction
2. You are quoting rtonia (Australian Eastern Standard Time) and than your local post time, You cant mix time zones, it has to be one or the other.

i.e.

rtonia
Timestamp 04-04-2005, 10:39 PM
Posts auction - duration 24 hours
-----------------------------------
mohawki
Timestamp Yesterday, 10:45 AM
bids $10 (12 hours 6 minutes after start, 11 hours 54 minutes to go)
-----------------------------------
omnia
Timestamp Yesterday, 01:12 PM
bids $12 (14 hours 33 minutes after start, 9 hours 27 minutes to go)
------------------------------------
no further posts
------------------------------------
rtonia
Timestamp Yesterday, 11:17 PM
Announces auction closed:
"Auction ended at 10:39 PM
Time of post now at 11:16 PM"
------------------------------------

All times and timestamps quoted above are in Australian Eastern Standard Time
