wow... two trademark infringements in one name and someone actually bought it?!
What's even stranger is that at the moment it points to a generic holding page so whoever paid for it isn't getting anything for his traffic befor he gets his cease and desist order.

It is when you get a Cease and Desist order from companies with deep enough pockets to (a) take the name off you long before you recoup the 2-3 years projected parking income which is the standard price people pay for traffic names and (b) if they're feeling especially pissed off, take you to a proper court and land you with the potential of fines exceeding what traffic income you generated.

And the IOC are notorious for clamping down on domain owners with the term Olympics in their name and MSNBC might want to use the name again in four years time.

there are always appraisals of " 0.00$, trademarked" or something like that, the funny thing is I have registered over 1,000 typos in the last year, most typos of major companies and never once, have I ever been sent a letter, contacted by the company , or anything like that. So until that happens I really am not worried about it. What is the worst case scenario, I have to give them the name, so what ..I registered it for 7$ , it is well worth it.

Typos are much harder to prove intellectual property rights to than a former developed site containing the full trademarked name two international brands who vigorously defend their trademarks

Bingo! It doesn't take a whole lot of traffic to a name to make it worth more than a $7 reg fee (in fact average of 11 hits a day will cover that with most parking programs). And if you run into a TM problem and simply hand over the name you're not out more than the $7 anyway.

I'm not publically endorsing the practice of course, but what you say is spot on, and I know domainers that make an ok living doing exactly that.

Seconds rj's opinion. I have been recently grabbing TM names and most of the owners of original domain paid me the money. I never ask too much XXXXX , just mid xxx to highxxx and they pay it. Some of them even sent me appreciation mails for good business .
