Can Domains fail to propogate?

Hello Guys

I wonder if you wouldn't mind passing your view on a problem I have encountered.

I purchased a domain on 23rd Jan from a forum member and he pushed this to my Enom account. I logged in and updated contact info etc.

However WHOIS still shows his details and this has now caused a dispute between me and SEDO, where I have attempted to park it. I cant understand why WHOIS hasn't picked up my details from Enom, or is there something fishy going on here? Any thoughts.

I have sent a copy of the paypal payment to SEDO and copied Enom. I'd be grateful for your view on this, as I have transferred a great many domains without any problems, and this gives real cause for concern. Could it be that a single doamin may fail to propogate its contacts correctly perhaps? Thanks for your time!

Some registers require you to enter IP AND Nameserver name. Did you do both, if required. I dont use enom that much and I am not sure of their requirements. Usually, from my experience, when you update your info it checks it right then and tells you "successful" or "failed" attempt.

I have never had a problem really.

I have entered approx a hundred domains in recent months, a proportion of which have also been hosted at Enom. All of these are trouble free and dsiplay correctly

Like you, I have never encountered any issues until now. I have quadruple checked the entries and nameservers and all is fine. Its a real mystery.

I've just tried re-entering the contact info manually, and I'll see how I get on. Thanks for your response!

hmm might be the domain has been suspended? I have a domain you cant change anything of it, just waiting to expire

What WHOIS are you using to check?
What does the WHOIS at eNom report?
Is this .com/.net or an .org?

Yes, strangely at Enom it is correct for me, but elsewhere it isn't. It is indeed a .org TLD. I am in contact with the previous owner and ENOM now, so hopefully I'll resolve this shortly. Incidentally, it's now been 5 days since the push! propogation certainly shouldn't take that long should it. Normally 24-48 hours is the norm.

If it's an org, make sure your WHOIS information on the domain with completely filled out with eNom. You must have a phone number and email address listed for all contacts on the domain. Try logging in and updating the WHOIS information. It should post to PIR within a few days normally if all contact fields are valid!

You can check the .ORG regitry whois at www.pir.org

PIR says "Note: For authoritative contacts, please visit the WHOIS of the sponsoring registrar. "

I had earlier checked that ll fields were pupulated properly. I've also just checked via the link you posted and it still shows the old owner. hmmmm???

However based on your reference to checking via the sponser, I guess I should stop worrying, as Enom shows accurate records.

I believe the name is ***.org ?? your enom DOES NOT show a ORGANIZATION name ..PIR will not accept without this.

i see your organization is entered at enom but pir still has the old registrants name, i had to set-up a new enom acct and push the name to that account for it to get updated in PIR then:bingo:

Update

Just heard from Enom regarding the issue the WHOIS not updating with my details. There response is

"The .org registry is no longer accepting .co.uk email addresses for the registrant email.
Please use .com/net/org email address.

This must be a very recent development, because I have registered other .orgs some weeks ago, which accepeted the .co.uk format email address.

Well, the proof is in the pudding a sthey say, so in theory, all should be fine in around 24 hours.

i would still set up a new "free"enom acct. and try to push...why won't PIR take a .UK email addy?? I don't think they're full of B.S.

Maybe dotBiz, but he domain is now active, so I guess it must be right. It does seem very odd indeed however, that they dont accept this format of email address anymore?

That is wacky! I bet has to do with programming issues handling validation of third level domains in email addresses.
