Web Page Editor Recommendation?

I myself use Dreamweaver, but it's overkill to suggest it to someone maintaining a small website.

Can someone share a recommend a decent low cost WYSIWYG web editor I can suggest to my clients?

Have them Try MM Contribute II for $99.00 it is like DW but easier to use. Also allows you to control the source of Websites while allowing them to edit content and Meta's

I recommend it to all clients

I use Crimson Editor. It is free and a great tool. I use it for php and it works great. :tu:

if price is the problem get the educational version you can get the whole studio for about $200 and that is a very nice price indeed.

RJ asked for WYSIWYG editors. This stands for "what you see is what you get" meaning that notepad would not count. Notepad is great dont get me mistaken just wanted to give a heads up under this condition.

Price and learning curve. The full version of Dreamweaver can be intimidating to someone with zero development experience with only basic page editing needs.

Frontpage I avoid recommending because it is unfriendly to PHP files and the code it generates is awful.

ahh i see. well you could try my other links. I agree frontpage is horrible and yes dreamweaver is pretty intimidating. golive from adobe is also useful but can be on the level of dreamweaver. If you go to officemax, compusa, etc there are generic programs which i find easy to learn yet very limited in features. The price is also very nice.

agreed that the learning curve on dreamweaver/adobe go live is STEEP....still looking for an easier way...thanks guys

Dan the easiest way is to get someone to do it for you. Obviously. Other then that I think use a generic editor as posted in above links. I STRONGLY reccomend learning the basics of HTML no matter what editor you use. I also have an opinion that you should learn the hard stuff if you want to go somewhere with it if you are in a rush then some of these others are great.

Another option is to learning is books or tutorials. I can also reccommend flash as a program to create a site. It is awesome and not difficult to learn. Of course this may be more steep then wanted.

I normally by 10 Licences of Contribute and provide it to clients at the end of each project at cost.

We have a number of smaller customers that cannot read source. I have found even the freshest newbie can understand it.

The great thing is Contribute allows me to lock my source code while still allowing customers to make minor changes to text images etc. It saves a ton of time and eliminates numerous requests for minor text changes and the infamous " I made some changes, now my site doesn't work"
