news/opinions/predictions .... whatever :)

it kinda got quiet after a couple weeks of interesting reading.

it looks like encirca's special is over.

registrypro's special forum isn't very busy, either.

anyone have a good estimate of the number of .PRO domains regged in March?

Here's my prediction:

1. ICANN will allow the current registrations for the balance of the paid terms.
2. ICANN will tighten up the TOS that registrypro and it's registrars are required to use.
3. Next year, the new rules (or fully enforced existing rules) will apply at the renewal date, and most will not renew.

Make the best of the one year you probably have with current registrations.

Alternate Outcome:
ICANN/registrypro allows open registrations of the second level, but requires the same terms as the third level of purchasing security certificates making annual cost around $200 to $400 per domain, or enforces individual compliance with the policy that each domain have two third level domains at the standard cost of $400+each, making third level domains cost $900 in reality.

However, I do predict that within a couple years, .pro is opened up somewhat like .name did, and as encirca has attempted to accellerate with loopholes. I forsee proof of professional status not being limited to doctors lawyers and engineers, but to other more liberalized definition of professionals as well through other professional business organizations. I don't forsee ICANN opening it up as an unrestricted gTLD though.

Other than pricing domains out of the market, there is no conceivable way to stop some type of subleasing, partnering, subcontracting etc. People will be able to renew somehow. If EnCirca is banned from doing as a registrar, others will offer another way.

Congrats, that's awesome. But I thought you sold it a few weeks ago at $51 here on eBay?

BTW, does your buyer know that eventually he may lose his .PRO if (IF!) Icann would decide that the recently reg'd .PROs are invalid? Let's hope they don't, of course! :tu:

That doesn't matter because there was actually a (digital) product at the time of purchase.

Pros, unlikely to happen as Encirca has shown many times in several places that what they are doing is legitimate. However, as always with all sales I make..i offer a return policy (minus transaction fees (ie paypal) for buyers to ensure there are never passion buys or confusion over claims.

A happy buyer is a returning buyer I say.

Yeah...

So LeeRyder,

How come you sold both LED.cc and Bible.pro to the same person on eBay , but in both cases the WHOIS info is still in your name (well, actually in your wife's name)? A coincidence, maybe? Maybe in both cases the WHOIS info hasn't been updated yet? (I checked the WHOIS at GoDaddy for LED.cc).

But does get one wondering a bit. Please enlighten me/us, 'cos we don't want to get the wrong impression here:
Did you or didn't you sell both of those names on eBay back then (to one and the same person)? If so, then how come 1) that you are selling 'Bible.pro' to someone else again (this time via Escrow, for $2000), and 2) why did you say about Led.cc yesterday, in the http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=81465 thread, that "For led.cc ussually I say no". "say no"? That makes it sound like you still (or... again) own LED.cc? Like you own Bible.pro again?

:-/

I explained this earlier in the thread..but since you seem a little "slow" to read things..i"ll do it again :)

I sold LED.cc to Pete90732 then for various reasons wasn't able to purchase the domain at that time (led.cc) so, i talked to him about it.. decided it wasnt worth the hassle (via msn).
Then when bible.pro went to auction, i had misgivings about posting it. so I asked him (because I was unable to figure out how to cancel an auction -or- it just doesnt allow it?) to put in some insane bid ( i think it was 3 million or 35 million or something like that) so it wouldnt sell...this was his way of "paying" me back (among other things) for fallin through on LED.cc.

Since the bid for 35 mill (or whatever) was so high.. I knew no one would win it and I would be able to holdon to it.

clear enough?

Hmmmm... No Lee, not clear enough. "in the thread"?
Well, since I am a bit 'slow' -according to you anyway, were in 'the' thread exactly did you explain this in 'earlier'? (Please directly link to the post where you explain this) With 'the' thread, do you mean in this very thread? Doesn't look like it! Or do you think I -or others- keep up with all of your threads, and thus I/we should know which other thread you have 'explained it'?
And now that you have the chance to explain something to somebody 'slow' here, as well to others not so 'slow', tell me, what is that 'this' exactly anyway? The 'Led.cc' non-sale? Or 'Bible.pro' being sold for a second time? Both?

Thanks Lee!

Best,
Rob

In this very thread right here. just scroll up and youll see it slick.

As per the led.cc sale/bidder not paying, if you do a search for LED.cc youll see me post shortly after the auction ended that the bidder did not pay and the sale fell through.

I dont feel the need to post direct links to this sites own threads to show you these as, number one..your actually IN one of the threads and number two, its easier for you to do the search than for me to do it and then post a link to appease ya ;)

Thanks Prop!

whoa..my bad!!!

http://namepros.com/showthread.php?t=79295 this is where I discussed the .pro thing. i got lost amongst the 3 .pro threads in this forum..sorry.

Nonsense, Lee. You did not 'explain this earlier in the thread'.
The only two posts that you had posted in the/this thread at first were:

OK, since this will be the News thread for pro...
Bible.pro is currently in escrow.com sold for $2,000.
And then the next one:
Pros, unlikely to happen as Encirca has shown many times in several places that what they are doing is legitimate. However, as always with all sales I make..i offer a return policy (minus transaction fees (ie paypal) for buyers to ensure there are never passion buys or confusion over claims.
A happy buyer is a returning buyer I say.
So, nowehere in those first two posts did you explain anything about how come you were selling Bible.PRO again, you only said that you were selling it, and you had replied to my earlier question about the (possible) problems in case Icann started declaring the recent .PRO regs invalid. So no, you did not already clarify any of the stuff that I brought with the questions from my post http://www.namepros.com/showpost.php?p=534420&postcount=13 in those first two posts of yours. So don't give me your 'slow' remark crap, please.

Grazie!
