I'm talking when someone buys a domain from me. Do i simply set the domain's status to ACTIVE and wait for him to transfer it?

Who do you have it registered with? When you sell a domain and wish to transfer, if they have an account with the same registrar you simply "push" the domain to their account.

I.E. At GoDaddy, it is an "Account Change" You change all of the contacts to theirs and use the email associated with their account. This initiates the transfer.

Idotz.net, you simply select Push and type in First and Last name I believe

Domainsite, you push to their account using their account ID.

Depends on what TLD? Eg. .COM, .NET, or .ORG ; .INFO or .US (which involve โ€œauth info codesโ€ ); .TV (must be same registrar); or what I am not familiar with. Please state the extension or domain name.

Also depends on the registar.

When did you register or get ownership? When does it expire?

More info upon receipt of your answers.

I'm using GoDaddy.com .

In fact , moneybookers.com will monitor the payment\transfer process. How do they verify that the domain reached the buyer? do they compare the WHOIS results to the info he provided? if so , then what if he use a private registration and claim that the domain didn't reach him?

*EDIT* They are .NET and .COM domains. I bought them couple of days ago.

are you going to transfer it to 'the buyers godaddy account'. Or is the buyer going to pay for a 'transfer' to his domain site?

OK. I gather: 1) you sold them, 2) they are at GD, 3) you are using Moneybookers escrow service, and 4) you just bought them.

To answer your most recent question about Moneybookers escrow service, I never heard of them. Escrow.Com is the escrow agent of choice of domain sellers. Regardless, Moneybookers.com indicates:

โ€œThe buyer has 14 days to accept the merchandise, reject it or claim non-delivery.โ€

So, unless the terms of your escrow contract are different (you would already know about that I guess), you wait until you hear from the buyer.

IMPORTANTLY, I DONโ€™T BELIEVE GD WILL APPROVE A TRANSFER OUT BECAUSE YOU PURCHASED THE DOMAINS RECENTLY. I suggest that instead, you follow what verson2 indicated above and look to kick-them, NOT TO TRANSFER THEM.

P.S.

What leads you to believe the sale is subject to Moneybookerโ€™s Escrow service vs. just a simple Moneybooker transaction???????

Did you fax copies of an escrow agreement to Moneybookers and were notified of receipt of the 2% buyers deposit with Moneybookers?

I just realized that because of you are a new board member, it could be that you are the subject of a scam rather than quickly selling more than $2,000 in domains.

Thanks for taking your time to type that William9 :)

I didn't sell any yet. I'm asking about what should i do when there's a buyer :)

Not neccessarily. As i said , i don't have a buyer yet.

They say :
"In the 14 day inspection period, the buyer would click on "reject". At that point, the buyer is responsible for arranging return shipment with an approved shipper. The buyer receives returned funds only after the seller confirms receipt of the returned items in the same condition it was sent. "

So i guess its safe for both sides.

Why is that??

so i shall just change the domain's info and it automatically transfer or what?

I chose moneybookers.com becuase they offer fast wire transfers with low costs (unlike escrow.com). It also seems flixable for both the buyer and the seller.

Why should i fax them? and whats an "escrow agreement"?

I know about the recipt. I'm afraid it's 1% not 2%.

Basically you are asking for a domain sales course rather than information on a single prospective domain sale. I donโ€™t have time to post that course in 10 minutes and prepare for tomorrow. It would have been better if you had started the thread indicating that. But no one is perfect and it wasnโ€™t critical โ€“ so no problem.

I am going to restate you questions, but I donโ€™t have time to write the course (or link to threads which answer your questions) tonight. I think you are saying that you never sold a domain and ask:

โ€ข When should you use an escrow agent?
โ€ข What escrow agent is recommended?
โ€ข Anyone use Moneybookers Escrow? Why not?
โ€ข What is the difference between a transfer-out, kick, or push?
โ€ข After a recent change in registrants, is there a waiting period before changing registrars again (aka transferring-out)?
โ€ข What threads link to those questions? (We all had the same questions at some time)

Keep in mind, the first question is the amount. I speculate the escrow cutoff for most Namepro resellers selling to other reputable Namepro reseller is between $1,000 and $2,000. That means for a $1,000 sale, I personally would forget escrow. I have done non-escrow (paypal) transactions (purchases) on various boards with reputable board members without a problem so-far.

I absolutely have no problem with the full 5% Escrow.com charges, it is worth it. Cheaper is NOT better. Escrow.com understands domain transfers, escrows-are-us doesnโ€™t.

Hopefully, some of your other questions will be answered by other members before you sell all your domains or I check back. Goodnight.

This is why GD (or most registrars) may not let you transfer-out within 60 days:

Inter-Registrar Transfers Policy

http://www.icann.org/transfers/
http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm

The Registrar of Record may deny a transfer request only in the following specific instances:
โ€ฆ
9. A domain name is within 60 days (or a lesser period to be determined) after being transferred...

The policy says may, however, read the terms of your registration to see if there are addition terms (eg. some discount registrations require a second years of registration payments, one at full price). Posts of other board members indicate GD isnโ€™t letting you transfer-out if you havenโ€™t been there at least 60 days.
But you may be able to kick or push in less than 60 days subject kick or push restrictions.

Good night.

Hello again William9 :)

I'd like to point that all of the domains i registered were never registered before (or thats what they seemed like). So your fifth question wouldn't be so useful , would it?

The questions would be basically (after modifications) :
  • What escrow agent , that offers wire transfer for payment ,is recommended?
  • Anyone use Moneybookers for payments or\and Escrow? why not?
  • What is the difference between a transfer-out, kick, or push?
  • What threads link to those questions?

I'm trying to sell domains without escrow services , just like you did , to avoid the mess and profit deduction , but the problem is finding someone who would trust me.

I can wait for you till you respond tomorrow , or till some other member handle those questions :)

thanks for your time

All payments are guaranteed by Moneybookers' unique secure payment system, there is no charge back risk to worry about. A special security deposit of 2% paid by the buyer will ensure his swift action in the acceptance procedure - it is only released back to the buyer after successful completion of the transaction.

Fees: Our fee is paid by the buyer and is 1% of the purchase price (but a minimum of EUR 2).

As I indicated in my first response, I have never used them. Don't get me wrong, Moneybookers.com appears to be 100% legitimate, it is just I donโ€™t know how well their service works for domains.

Hi. I am out of sync with your questions as I am doing three things.

With respect to domain that you just registered (it is irrelevant whether they never were registered or this is the first time), the 60 day policy indicated above applies! GD will not let you transfer out (I think additional terms apply under the GD $2.99, $3.99, or $4.99 domain special). So the answer is that you canโ€™t transfer out for at least 60 days. Better learn about kicking or pushing.

To ensure that more member respond to your questions, I suggest we now consider the thread closed.

I recommend that you post just ONE of your now three questions in a separate thread, after that one is answered and the thread complete, post the next. There is just too little chance another member will get to the point in the tread and answer one of your unanswered questions. Good night.

Depends if you're transferring in-house, or out. Out, they just submit a transfer request at their registrar.
