In your experience, how close do Wordracker and Overture results compare? I found a domain plus extension that comes up big in Wordtracker but shows nothing in Overture. Very odd.
The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I find wordtracker a better "measuring source" when looking for keyword combinations of niche market words. It also gives a better read out especially in the area of end user pluralization of keywords, where overture doesn't.
Generally speaking I have found WordTracker to be more accurate.
As ExpireGuy pointed out Overture doesn't differentiate between plural and singular. It also doesn't differentiate based on the order of words in a search phrase ie. "string bikini" & "bikini string".
Overture numbers are pulled from a larger search engine base but is also subject to counting a single search at a meta-search engine site as multiple searches.
The results being shown by both are relevant. Overture tends to show higher figures because of more searches. But, as pointed out, does not differentiate between singular and plural. You will need KWT to figure out which one to use.
Also, keep in mind that they are using different databases.
BTW, there are "speculations" that Overture results can be manipulated
