question Should domains be sold or "pitched" based on letter count?

Just got off the email after writing back to an inquiry.

As I was "pitching" I realized since my domain was a 7 letter domain(despite the fact that it was technically a 2 keyword domain) I decided to show all 7 letter domains and before I even copied and pasted to the email the list of domains sold as shown on Namebio I come to the conclusion. Wow!

My domain is in a "nice neighborhood" and I did not even realize it. Yes yes I know it's crazy to think this especially since the crash of the dotcom but it's fun to fantasize.

I mean just look at all 7 letter domains sold in the past?

Hi

if..... you are pitching, then the domain is not

so, regardless to how many letters it has, it's not saying anything to the potential.

to go and dig up other domains with same letter count is pointless, because you're trying to sell what's already been sold.

and.... if they don't see the similar value in your name, then they walk and you get thrown off the mound.

in addition, you posted everything but the actual domain in question... yours.

imo...

None of those domains sold because they are (7) letters long. It is not that relevant.

I'm selling my 6-letter domain spjhnv.com for $100,000. Shorter than anything you listed. PM if interested.

As you can see size doesn't matter.

Those are all single word names, thats why they sold for those amounts. I have a name like Cloudek.com, brandable as a cloud name IMO, but not a single word so I dont expect it to sell for anywhere near those prices. The same applies if I have 2-word 7 letter name like DataHit.com, its not going to sell for xx,xxx.

Obviously I didn't mean just a random bunch of letters totaling 7 letters.
and second.

I didn't mean I'd "actually" try to sell 7 letter domains for $7 figures just like that.

But being able to throw that "list" to someone can be a real eye opener.

I don't expect anyone to ever buy from me my 7 letter domains no matter what they are for 7 figures or 6 or 5.

But when a buyer replies back to your more realistic ask of 4 figures or 5 figures showing them similar (high sales in the millions) for 7 letter domains psychologically wouldn't it "help"?

As far as making them "think" they are getting a "great deal" at 4 Figures or even 5 figures?

I mean $10,000 is a drop in the bucket when compared to $1 million.

I'd pitch them the $1 million with a target of $1000. now that's a discount and "being their friend doing them a favor" lol

I would only make a comparison if it is relevant. Unless you have an ultra premium domain those do not really apply, and honestly a comparison like that would make you look silly to a potential buyer IMO.
