Any thoughts, the native american tribes, their history, the Jeep Car, businesses with the same name.

I feel like there are lots with this name but what do you think about it?

Hmmm, this one does look good. Though the plural and the .net devalue it a lot. It is one word and easy to remember however. I would price it at mid to high two figures. If it were the singular version it would be an easy three figures.

when talking about the native american tribe i believe they prefer Cherokee Nation over putting a "s" on Cherokee

You will probably run into the trademark issue if you use it for the jeeps, but if you can find a dealership with an official contract to sell them, you could be onto a winner.

However, I would ask in the legal forum about this...

Yes, and I would advice to remove that domain from godaddy default parking ASAP. There are 6 ads currently there which leads to cherokee cars.

Thanks for the thoughts and I am removing it now, and any ideas on value?

Piper makes a very nice small aircraft called the Cherokee but once again it would probably become a TM issue.

Yea I would like to stay away from the TM issues as best I can. But I think the name does have some value as solid .net.

I dont see NO REASON WHATSOEVER why it could become a trademark issue. Its like saying if you own pathfinder.com or .net you'd be subject to trademark violation of nissan. Besides, cherokee.com is running without issue.

If the domain was jeepcherokee.net or cherokeejeep.net, I would agree with the trademark issue being discussed here.

Yep! Thats what I tried to say. The domain name in itself IMHO wouldnt arise any issue as long as the site or the ads on it aint related to the auto company.

I am part Cherokee and I dont see how any company could legally trademark the name of a nation of people

TM = Trade + Mark.

It is the same way Apple can TM a piece of fruit. It is for a specific use only, not the generic use.
