Any thoughts shared are appreciated...also how long would you hold it?

My first instinct is you won't sell this because of the TLD - bitcoin is not "funny". However, given the surge for bitcoin related, the amount of money in this industry, and because you have a single keyword, I think you might get something at some point in the next N years.

How long and how much is impossible to say because your buyer pool is limited to certain types who would want/use this sort of TLD.

A hard one to evaluate.

I'd make it visible on the marketplaces and see what offers (if any) come in, and take it from there.

Not quite commercially viable, there have only been a couple .lol sales in the past and there’s no reason to believe they will pick up. I have seen interesting uses of some of these extensions though, such as blockchain.wtf which is an educational resource. But .lol as opposed to .wtf is clearly comedy-oriented, so the only uses I can think of are a comedy blog, or perhaps ecommerce (selling crypto-related funny merchandise).

Bottom line: some, though limited, development potential, but little to zero resale potential. If prices in the low xxx on GD/Afternic, someone may pick it up in a year, maybe.

This is a name with low standard renewal, around 20 or so, which is good.

We all know about bitcoin craze, so it can, despite the fact that .lol extension limits its end user pool significantly, sell for mid xxx-1,5k.

I would put it for BIN 399-799 if you want to resell in first year of holding, it is also possible to hold for 2-3 years and try highher price. Or just put it to "make offer" mode and see if there are some offers on it :)

To: James Haw - Good advice, thank you. I was thinking along the same lines. A part of me was hoping some person or institution that is against bitcoin might pick it up..., like laughing at bitcoin, hoping it fails, etc. Or laughing to the bank is another angle for supporters laughing at those that didn't invest in Bitcoin.

Thank you for your insight and for writing back. Maybe bitcoin bashers would want it. Hopeful thinking:) I'll put it up for make offer and see what happens. If anything happens I'll let this thread know. Thanks again.

I agree with it's limitations, but perhaps I'll get lucky some day. I appreciate you giving me numbers to shoot for as I am new to this and have no idea. Like you said, I think I will just put it to make offer for a few months. Do you think a bitcoin pundit would want it? Like a big bank or someone really against it would want it. Or am I reaching big time! Not worth trying to contact any people like JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon, who's against bitcoin. Or maybe the opposite, and contact John McAfee :) jk

It is like this...keyword "bitcoin" is atm taken in almost all extensions...there are literally thousands of end users for it, many will go for some 2 worder in .com or .org (and even those 2 worders will be pretty expensive to get) and many will opt for new gTLDs.

So from this perspective even .lol with this keyword is valuable. If you want to put a little energy into contacting relevant endusers, it can happen that someone will pay nicely for it. It is honestly difficult to predict, and depends also on your negotiation, sale and marketing skills - this can be quick resell for usd 50 here at Namepros, or 5k deal if you can make it with end user. I think there is some nice potential in it for sure :)

It is easy to envision a logo though containing a person with arms up as if shouting jumping YAY kinda thing. Or help arms outstretched. Just what I see handsup.lol was regged as soon as it went to general release. Since the extension is a palindrome it makes sense to register the same like the sale of kik.lol , just sharing my view point.
