Hi Guys....

Is Bing a tough competitor to Google?

I have seen many Domainers favour Bing over Google !

What are your comments?

Time will tell. anyway, Bing is having a good start.

Web analytics firm StatCounter released analysis Monday stating that Bing slightly increased Microsoft's share of the U.S. search market in July. It now claims 9.41 percent, up from 8.23 percent in June.

The combined market share of both Microsoft and Yahoo in July was 20.36 percent, up slightly from 19.27 percent in June. The commanding lead Google currently has on the market shrank slightly to 77.54 percent in July from 78.48 percent in June.

Bing is crazy. I think yahoo is the best though. They will soon overtake everyone.

I think that Bing has been quite well received by people in the tech industry (domainers, webmasters, etc) but it remains to see if it well gain significant traction.

Our analytics across about 50 sites show an average of about 2-6% of inbound traffic is coming from Bing... a decent start.

Bing is doing what MSN and Live never could do - get people to use it for their searches. Bing will be competition for Google.

Google is currently to well known. However in time if bing is able to evolve as quick if not quicker then google it could be a competitor.

I never did care much for any previous MS search sites. However, bing is now my second favorite and MS might just have it right this time...finally. My browser start page is still Google though.

For me, the bing search result pages contrast the main bing homepage. That needs to be fixed ASAP. IMO

My biggest site has less than 1/2 a percent bing referral traffic. I like the search engine but it's got a long way to go. Yahoo does 2/3rds a percent. I get 56% of my overall traffic is from Google with 34% direct navigation.

NAh..o disagree with you. Yahoo ain't good for search anymore. Guess they are concentrating on tother things now. Google still leads all and with the introduction of caffeine sandbox, its sure to retain the top position.

Best?

Does it actually really matter!
I say that because yahoo or Bing could be miles ahead of Google in terms of functionality and results BUT this really comes down to marketing.

BING is a great name and they should be marketing the nuts out of it.

I just cannot type in yahoo or bing in a browser as I am so programmed to type in Google.
This is the real power of branding and marketing.
Plus, my browser has google as the default search engine, though I dont use that section much.

Well, I think Google is still the best.

But nowadays I get good visitors from Bing also.

Sounds like alot of you really like Bing. Personally, I can't stand to use it. I've not been able to use it for a search and gotten a response that I'd been looking for (at least, not nearly as fast as I did when I used google.) So while it may be better then MSN, it won't be getting me as a user. At least not until it can prove itself.
