Is there any value in .info domains?

I haven't seen them used by anyone but they seem like they have a good purpose. Why are they so poorly adopted and has anyone ever made money with one (either via selling or via having a site on it)?

Also, do they get looked at the same by search engines?

Call .info the best latent gTLD. Its hidden, but its relevant and tracked. If you think .info is rubbish then you're not reading between the lines. Some great .infos have been available and i've been watching people just underrate them. .info might be down now, but its temporary.

whats the average sales price of a .info on the NP .info sales thread for the past 2 or 3 years? buying LLL and one word .infos for high $xx to very low $xxx is cheap. Ignore the biased talk, look at the numbers. .info is still a big TLD player by most assesments.

There are some .infos that are being offered for cheap prices now, but it wont always be a bearish market for .info.Better times are head IMO.

Kemjika...you're right, and yes if you can buy a one word for high $xx to very low $xxx, you should grab it, as a reseller that's a good price. Domainers tend to hold on to them and park, gathering dust when very often they can be made into great relevant and profitable sites. I only have one other .info that I'm going to drop, b/c it's two words and isn't worth the yearly reg fee imo. yet I just spent a bit over 1k on a one word .info. Yes, I probably overpaid, (see my other thread on shill bidding) but I suppose I was very connected to this one word and saw it's potential as an enduser, not as a reseller which is why I ended up paying the enduser price. Plus the same name had sold for more previously.

Yes. If .net or org have about 15% value of a .com than .info propably has a .5% value of a .com

Hi, .info domains also have same value as other GTLDs we also use this ipworld.info .info domain it has a lot of traffic as have our others .com domains. It does not matter which is extension of your domain only matters your content & SEO of the website. That's all

I believe that is correct, but only in the short term. Over time factors like natural traffic, domain name memorability, etc give you an extra 10-15%(avg) of traffic, visitors, turnover. Research shows that a great domain name contributes 10% of a company's turnover. For one, you mentioned ".info", but then compared it to "gTLDs", so we dont even know what those extensions are, but we hear .info and know what it is, no confusions. isnt that at least part of the difference in value already?.lol, (and we're domainers) .

FInally, if domains didnt matter, then why do they generally have different prices?(domain trading/aftermarket for e.g)

If you have useful words or phrases in an extension you've been ignoring, like .info, .biz, or .mobi, you should make sure your pricing is updated if you have it on Afternic Fast Transfer.

We were taken by surprise by a couple of recent sales -- including HelpMe.biz.
