Hey guys

I picked this domain up today as I like it and it has a few diffent uses as i see it, either some kind of website/app which profiles alternative things to see/do Or stay around the world or perhaps alternative lifestyles/shows in Las Vegas! There's also some other good potential end users and I like it as a brandable.

I've put the domain through nameworth and it's suggested tier 1 - ultra premium $500,000 top retail value. What do you guys honestly think?

Potentially a little value due to crypto. For example, a guide to alt coins. Maybe xxx, but could wait a long time for a buyer.

I'd probably drop it after a year if no interest.

I hadn't thought of it as a repository of data for alt coins, that's a great idea. Thank you

I also see no value in this domain.

It doesn't mean anything and it doesn't sound good as a brandable due to the 3 consonants stuck together. Now atlas.com, that's a top tier domain.

Also, never ever trust appraisal sites.

I don't trust appraisal sites alone but to suggest it's not brandable for an alternative travel company is frankly ludicrous in my opinion. Do you know the size of the alternative travel market? Two syllable domain incorporating the alternative and tying it into an atlas, totally spot on for that market IMO. it's all about opinions though, it was a drop so someone, like you, felt it was worthless and thousands of other domainers ignored it at the drop but I'm happy to sit on it and maybe even develop it if need be so we'll see

Classic appraisal thread. People offer (negative opinions), op gets defensive and starts talking how valuable his domain is.

It's a meme at this point. But more power to you if you think that thousands of experienced domainers are stupid for letting the domain slide and you are the one and true all seeing eye.

I think you've misunderstood I'm afraid. My point was entirely that you could well be correct on the basis it was allowed to drop then ignored! I was just giving my response to your points and an explanation of why I disagree, as I said it's all about opinions. Isn't that the only thing we realistically have when it comes to something so intangible as a bendable domain? Only time tells who is right. I imagine it was my point that you couldn't see any value at all in a domain with such a clear and obvious link to both alternative and travel for potential alternative travel users is what's made you think I'm being defensive. Rest assured I take nothing personally and I don't take it ad defence and attack, I take it as healthy debate and opinions.

Then what's the point of asking for an appraisal if you're going to dismiss all opinions based on the fact that they just opinions.

Because I want other people's opinions! Even if they're different to mine! Just because I disagree and explain why it doesn't mean I don't want to hear them, of course I do. I don't take individuals appraising the domain as a given, just like I don't take domainworth as a given, or godaddy or estibot or any of them. The true value of a domain is only know when sold. You can have a technically amazing domain and if it never sells it's worthless to you as an investor. You can reg a technically poor one and if you happen to get lucky and sell it then it's worth more to you than the first one. I understand there are structure rules which historically provide better sales value, I understand bigger markets increase potential value, all of these are important but it's still completely subjective until it's sold. We all see terrible domains that sell and we all see great domains that don't so I'm interested in hearing others thoughts on a domain I obviously believe in as I regged it. Seriously dude, none of this is personal to me, I want to hear all opinions even I disagree. My fundamental point that altlas clearly ties alternative to global travel I would argue is actually a fact, if you disagree with that or even agree that it does but see no value in it that's cool
