I do not have a large portfolio of domain names but just picked up some dot coms in the Cannabis Industry, to add to my collection. I chose this industry because it's gaining momentum and I want to learn how to capitalize on it. Any guidance or suggestions on what I can do with them would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Welcome futurebrandnames!!

It wise to operate in a growth industry.
But also VERY competitive.

The good names are gone.

I cannot think of any business use case for your domains.

Does your registrar have a refund option?

Hi Chris, thanks but I'm sticking with them. I too am competitive :)

cannabisagility is my fave!

Halloa. Read. Digest. Then buy.

In domainers' eyes, your domains are not that good, but endusers may like. IDK. Just a little advice, start with Domain buyer request section, Auction section on NP and Namebio recent sales in your preferred niche, you will get the idea what sells.

If you've just started, then the Beginners section would be the way to go.

Wish you the best.

You have to set up your own personal strategy. Everything outside is wandering in the fog.

All the best.

Welcome to nP @FutureBrandNames ... try to think of how a company might use a domain name before registering. Although cannabisagility may sound good to you, I can't think of a business that would set up a website using this address. Good luck!

Hello!

You already have domains and understandably an interest in their sales potential - might suggest you search out and read through the related niche threads to see what and where similar / comp ( if any ) domains have sold.

Check NameBio for similar sales to assist in value determination.

Welcome to NamePros!

You choose a industry without studying/researching it

Hope you don't expect big money for these names, they seem to be from a domain name generator, just a bunch of random keywords put together.

Best case, try to sell them for low XXX.

I don't know the industry and don't invest in it (but many many domainers do, some of whom have already responded. While it is true that many names are selling in that niche, and particularly in the CBD niche, there are so many domainers who long ago invested in the niche that it means most of the good names are gone and there is huge competition for each potential end sale. This will decrease probabilities of sale.

As others have said do a lot of learning and research before investing in too many. I wrote a (too long :xf.sick:) set of about 60 pieces of advice for those starting out in domain investing. Here are the first 6 from my list: go slow at first, have realistic expectations, quality over quantity, join NPs, price correctly. Most of us, well me at least :xf.wink:, broke many of these 'rules' when starting out, and now and then still :xf.eek:.

I wish you every success in domain investing @FutureBrandNames (I like your NPs handle!), and welcome you to NPs.

Bob

PS Of your names, without really knowing field, I like AddressCannabis the best. I can see it being used in multiple ways - e.g. as a clearing house of addresses, physical and/or online, for obtaining cannabis related supplies. It also works for a safety campaign in the sense of address concerns re cannabis. It works as an address for an individual store, where permitted by law, in the sense of we are the address for cannabis. It would be particularly nice for a chain of franchised outlets (if they exist? See how little I know :xf.wink:)

My studying/researching of this industry is ongoing. Of course I did some research. Effective or not? Well if I learn something than I'd say it was. That is why I'm here to learn better methods and what to look for. I do not expect big money from these names and I didn't use a generator but I'll take that as a compliment. :) Keywords are the point of a good domain name though right? Thanks for the feedback.

Everone has their own styles how they make research and how they determine is the domain name a good one.

If you want to be an serious investor and make profits with your names, you must think like an business owner. If you are investing to Cannabis names, imagine yourself as an CEO of large Cannabis company and ask question from yourself - If domain name investor sends me an email that he is selling this name, would I even think of purchasing it.

And when you say the keywords determines the value of the names, it's 50% true. Good keyword domain names sells, but it is enough that one of the keyword doesn't make sense with the other keyword - Obviously nosense keywords mixed together isn't good at all. You must find out what keyword makes sense and always think 10 times before you purchase a name - Could there be better names in the market with similar price, should I think little more how an end-user can possibly use this name.

Hopefully this helps you.

Thanks
Sami Ketolainen.

Much appreciated Bob. I will continue to study, research and make mistakes :) Thanks for taking your time to guide beginners like myself. I have noticed some of your posts in other threads and you are very helpful. Best of luck to you also and I look forward to creating some FutureBrandNames :)

yes Keywords are important (main exception is brandables)
Here something simple that I do when deciding to hand register a name..

(1) put the keywords into Google/Bing and the search volume and competition

(2) Then I say the keywords outloud and try to use in a sentence

(3) Then I research sites like namebio (even Godaddy domain apprasial tool) to see sales history

Note two of the best keywords in the cannabis niche are canna and CBD..

A great thread to lurk is

Just my thoughts and experiences

Hi

from my perspective, none of those name have any potential for reselling

just sticking cannabis with words that don't compliment it, is futile

read thru ALL the cannabis, cbd, etc names that are already listed for sale here
then see how many get sold and how many times the seller bumps the thread hoping for a bite.

read thru the want to buy section and see how much those posters are willing to pay for cannabis related names.

there is a showcase thread for cannabis, read thru that
then you can see all the $ spent by hopefuls, having the same hopes as you.

there are thousands of cannabis domains registered and waiting to be sold
so consider, what is it about your name that makes it stand out from that crowd.

imo….
