discuss Registered a domain yesterday. Got over 30 emails for web and app dev.

Yesterday I registered a new .com domain. Today I woke up to more than 40 emails from web and app design companies offering their services.

I receive these emails daily, also receive phone calls from these people offering their services.

These are professional spammers who scrape Whois info daily for new domain registrations. It’s really getting quite bad!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I been registering about 10 names per day on a new email and number the only I use it for Is to reg names my sideline number is blowing up and my email is flooded and I get a email from netsol saying tired of getting emailed by spammers lol

now just think about all those innocent 'end-users" who get bombarded daily from domainers who send hundreds of email solicitations to buy their newly registered domains.

is it payback or what goes around comes around or karma or what ?

:)

imo….

100% of the ones I get are from people named "Brian" or "Steve" or "Cindy", in India. :-P

Yes it is awful OP, fortunately with GDPR and being in the UK it's better now than it was but still getting spam.
This issue actually caused me to stop using efty as the landing pages have my email address on them so buyers can contact me. The problem is as soon as I tried them again I got spammed to pieces and had to get rid of efty altogether and use landing pages that don't have my details e.g. undeveloped and sedo.

That is how bad it is right now, I literally had to stop using a service to stop being spammed lol what has the world come to!

Which is why I have never done outbound. I prefer the sit and wait approach

You can remove your email address from the landing page quite easily. Message me if you wish to know how

My inbox gets flooded with these daily, GDPR has made no difference IMO. The worst are the phone calls though, from Jon or Mark  in India but bouncing the call off of Washington US.

gmail ia spectacular at moving crapbto spam folders.. sadly even then i still scan through all spam.. as twice i found offer inquiries there that turned to sales.. still thats still 2 out of 100s of thousands emails success ratio... over the years... so gmail rocks my world

as for phone... i have free online nunber fron freephoneline.ca... i think they do canada only. so all i see is around 50 calls per day fron those suckers in my calllogs... i never hear them or pick up..they just go to voicemail eachtime

Thanks but for me one of the big attractions of efty is having your email there available so buyers can reach out to you direct and i've closed sales this way before. However, i'm not prepared to put up with the relentless spam that is coming from this now so prefer to use sedo and undeveloped lol.

Just saying what this level of spam can do for decision making, it's getting worse by the day.

I just block everyone that comes in. You won’t stop them, but it does cut them down some especially the prolific redundant spammers.

Unfortunately though, they just had a few domain conferences there in India, so a new wave of ‘new to this game’ of ignorant spammers is about to be unleashed.

I got Hiya installed on my cell so it rejects most, but they are also spoofing local numbers and random weird digits.

Yes for me it has a bit although the old timer spammers still keep on sending to me in bulk lol.
But having my email visible on efty caused a huge wave of spam that I just couldn't put up with anymore so got rid of my efty account and now using undeveloped and sedo etc. which doesn't display my email and the spam has dried up again.

They can still contact you through the make offer contact form. I sell domains everyday through efty.

Yes I know that, i've also done fine with efty and was probably rash to just delete my account without removing my email and just letting people use the contact form. Still happy with sedo and undeveloped, they are also very good. I'm just saying a direct outcome from mass spam lol.

Think its same story, I think it would be pretty safe to say this SPAM is one thing that has hurt outbound however with GDPR being more rigorous in times to come I actually believe outbound traction would increase as there'd be very limited chances of WHOIS being tracked and spammed.

The issue in question I assume is with NetSol and some other registrars, I just registered a .info on Godaddy few days back and I've had like literally no SPAM at all on my emails.

It's such a shame that the scammers have taken over domain names, and ruined communications via that channel. And to top it off, like @UmerK says, GDPR isn't helping at all

I buy my names at Uniregistry (discount by being in DNAcademy), use their free whois to stop calls and emails, and then use their free landing pages to sell them. It works like a charm and has cut my contacts way down.

actually I only thought about this later... but undeveloped may not like you showing yoru direct contact email on their landers.. no more than sedo or such would like you to give it in an offer description.. so whatever you do, think twice before and do at your own risk ;)

cheers

They will stop after they pester you to insanity lol, I get them too, They all go to my spam box, because i never open them.

Well said @biggie

I can't let my whois info be public, then the scammer phone calls start coming in, that was how i made the vast majority of my sales. sign of the times i guess.
