The '.co' is in use (gobd.co) by a company. They are using it under the name I originally planned "Go Bangladesh" (BD are the country code letters for Bangladesh).

I was thinking of selling on SEDO.COM. Is that the best place? Then, I guess, I could inform the owners of "gobd.co" that the dot com was for sale there. Or am I better off enlisting a company who sells domains?

-- I just found out that GoBD is used for something in German. May try to pitch there, to an accounting or auditing firm.

Unlike the General Protection Data Regulation (GDPR), the GoBD is not a well-known or oft-discussed topic. The German GoBD, or the β€œbasic principles on the proper keeping and storage of financial books, recordings, and documents in electronic form as well as data access”

There is a ton of German language stuff on GoBD. There are articles and also Youtube videos

Howsit!

Good on you for doing some research into the name yourself. The domain name gobd.com kinda reminds me of something and nothing at the same time! This is like a brand name before money and advertising dollars and brand awareness come into play.

I would suggest you take it off the lander you have now:

"You have landed at GOBD.COM. This website is for sale."

1. You are telling people it is for sale with no way to contact you.
2. You are telling people it is for sale with no way to make an offer.

I would suggest you create an undeveloped.com account and put a real lander page on it or Sedo.com like you mentioned.

Here are previously reported domain name sales for names that start with "go" and are four letters total in length:

gotu.com $50,000 USD
go24.com $15,000 USD
gomo.com $11,000 USD
gomo.com $11,000 USD
gory.com $10,000 USD
goby.com $10,000 USD
goos.com $9,965 USD
gofm.com $9,188 USD
goon.com $8,000 USD
gory.com $7,551 USD

After looking through all the past domain name sales and my gut feeling if I owned this name, I would price/ appraise this name at above the highest sale here and the price is at $75,000 USD for gobd.com.

YES. $75,000 USD. Will you get this sort of offer? Perhaps, but if you never ask, you will never know. Be prepared to wait.

This name could be an acronym for a product, a company or an invention not yet made. For example, iPod, iPad, iPod, Roku, Sony and ecig. Now, these are household names and used in daily conversations.

gobm.com sold just two weeks ago for $533 at Namejet. I was surprised at the low price. That's obviously a reseller price but also a cautionary tale about price expectations.

Re the above, words like gory and goon have to be excluded as "comparables" IMO. (Except their prices are so low they don't really matter.)

It looks like you have some nice widely accepted acronyms for GOBD, so that's a big plus.

75k? Really?

I get that it can't hurt to try but it seems gross unrealistic

Thanks for the suggestions. I have "undeveloped" open in another window.

Should I make a page with information about this German GoBD financial standard and then put Google, or other, Advertising on it? I guess that would build up the value of the domain. Then I could put "for sale" at the top and my contact information.

What would you appraise gobd.com at?

Here are four-letter .com reported domain names sales between $60,000 - $80,000 USD:

bink.com $80,000 USD
geli.com 80,000 USD
blow.com $80,000 USD
qiku.com $80,000 USD
temp.com $80,000 USD
brax.com $80,000 USD
boob.com 80,000 USD
wind.com $80,000 USD
bean.com $75,698 USD
macy.com $75,000 USD

Rick Schwartz would not have got a $1.35MM eBet.com, if he did not counter with $1.8M.

It doesn't seem to reflect what I see at auction in terms of price, particularly for a non-pronounceable LLLL. In my, albeit inexperienced eyes, there's lots of similar LLLLs available right now on GoDaddy expired auctions for low to mid xxx. This one is at least semi-pronounceable, what with GOB, but trailing D kills it IMO.

That said, I appreciate you have a lot more experience than me, so perhaps I am missing something.

I would just like to add that goto.com was reported sold for $2.5 million USD to gotomeeting.com. Thank you.
