I like the extension, but not sure there is any market for this ccTLD. Anyone have any experience or feedback regarding the .im extension?
Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are domains that aren't associated with specific locations. If your site has a generic top-level domain such as .com, .org, or any of the domains listed below, and wants to target users in a particular geographic location, you should set a country target.
Google treats the following as gTLDs that can be geotargeted in Search Console:
- Generic regional top-level domains: Although these domains are associated with a geographical region, they are generally treated as generic top-level domains (much like .com or .org):
- .eu
- .asia
- Generic Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs): Google treats some ccTLDs (such as .tv, .me, etc.) as gTLDs, as we've found that users and webmasters frequently see these more generic than country-targeted. Here is a list of those ccTLDs (this list may change over time).
- .ad
- .as
- .bz
- .cc
- .cd
- .co
- .dj
- .fm
- .io
- .la
- .me
- .ms
- .nu
- .sc
- .sr
- .su
- .tv
- .tk
- .ws
Congrats!sold my last .im this week
team dot im $1,500 / via escrow
dropped whisky, happy, tattoo, torrent etc before on no interest...
..no plans to buy/reg any more in the nearest 10 years thou - there's simply no market for them
especially when you have that many ntld alternatives now to choose from..
best of luck to the holders anyway
And this is interesting .IM introduced around 1996.
Transfer to another Registrar is better than renewReg at $8, renew at $40... Ouch...
They would have made much more with flat $9 pricing as a registry.
I sold SEO.im for $4,000. Several others in 3 and 4 figures too. Before the new gTLDs launch, .IM was doing pretty well but these days it's almost dead. I still own some great keywords like Mobile.IM, Fashion.IM, Social.IM, Free.IM, Dog.IM, Hotels.IM.
I think mobile.im sold for $7k in 2008 at Afternic.
NiceStill holding Tokens.im
I do think .im is having more future than new gtlds.
