I was told to ask here, since you deleted my posts and other people's posts again. Why the increase in deleting of posts? The thread with johnn, you're deleting posts of known information. Information that is all over the blogs.

I understand forums don't want their competition mentioned for fear of losing people I guess, but do you understand constantly deleting posts, might get the action you don't want in the first place? Overmodding again.

You deleted my posts and others but didn't delete the spam I reported yesterday - https://www.namepros.com/threads/wordpress-hosting-for-life.1048924/

More of what I was talking about. Handling the wrong stuff/people.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A few things:
  1. Thanks for asking in this appropriate forum.
  2. Whether things are publicized on blogs doesn't affect our rules and our rules will still be enforced.
  3. When the first post violates the rules and then multiple posts after that reply to it, we have to delete the violating post and all replies to it. Otherwise, the replies don't make sense and disrupt the flow of the thread. We try to leave the posts that can exist on their own, but it's not easy to figure out which those are when there are 20+ posts that have to be deleted. Also, the replies often quote the violating post so we have to delete the replies to fully remove the violating post.
  4. Unless the rules change, we will always enforce them the same. If you want less moderating, then we should have a conversation about removing/changing specific rules, which is the only way we'd moderate less. Saying that we're moderating too much doesn't help us improve. We need suggestions on changes to the rules, which would result in less moderating of things you disagree with.
  5. Reports are assigned to moderators. We work on our own schedules and not all reports are created equal. Some take longer than others. Some moderators may have signed off when they got your report and now that I'm on, I will handle my reports but not theirs, resulting in your report taking longer to be resolved.
  6. As for the report you just mentioned, you should have received an alert earlier today that it is being worked on. Sorry if we can't handle every report as quickly as you'd like, but you can rest assured that we will get to it.
Thanks for your patience,

I see several staff comments on the report in question; it looks like there's an ongoing investigation, which usually means we want to see how they behave without interfering so we can better block them in the future. We'd much rather be blocking spam entirely (proactive) than deleting it after it's been posted (reactive). We're actually very good at doing that, so when something slips through the cracks, it's important that we take time to analyze it and observe trends.

I've actually detected some staff changes. Michelle doesn't seem to be around as member of the mod team.

If the NP Staff page is accurate, there are only a hand full of Mods managing this whole thing. I sure hope it grows.

I suggest again that subjective decisions should be reviewed. There really should be a consensus and consistency in the application of deletions.

Thanks

Ya, it's accurate. We found that it was more difficult and there was less consistency in policy/rules enforcement with ~20 moderators, which resulted in a lot of issues. Once we have a better system in place for bringing on new moderators, we should be able to solve that issue and still grow the moderator team, but for now, we've found it's best to scale back on moderators so that we can all stay on the same page more efficiently.

You are such a good man Eric. Nothing better than an honorable person that says what they mean and means what they say. NamePros is lucky to have you! Keep up the great work.

time to expand the mod base? anyways, not everyone is going to be happy with rules / staff decisions.
