Hi all,

I personally see lots of these extensions selling on SEDO all the time.

But since am still a baby in this business, I really wanna know for sure which of these is best!

I mean in terms of which sells better

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I think as far as overall steady sales ... It is a toss-up between .de and co.uk , The Preferred extensions.

Each extension is different.
They all carry different restrictions, and the local market varies from one country to another too.
The trick is to own domains that other people would want.
Which means:
  • good keywords in a language that fits the TLD
  • preferably domains with commercial value
Unsurprisingly the TLDs that feature good sales are mature and even saturated. Finding good available domains isn't easy.
Hint: it certainly helps to have a bit of knowledge about the local market. What works in .com won't automatically have value in other extensions :snaphappy:

You also have to bear in mind the differences between British and American English if you think about investing in any co.uk domains.

There is a very strong market for .de but you need to have a good understanding of the German language in order to be successful. Good English keywords also sell nice.

If you think about investing in the .eu domains, make sure you know what you're doing as English keywords, ironically.. don't sell (almost) at all in the UK or Ireland which are the only English speaking members of the European Union. Do your research as every country within the EU differs when it comes to the popularity of this extension in their local market. The good thing about .eu's is that there is still many good keywords available for registration in many European languages.

For .ca you need to have a local presence in Canada (as far as I know) to be eligible for registration.

Preffered by whom?? There are lots of sales of .ca's as well. Most are private so you don't see them
plastered all over the place.

.ca - being from Canada of course is my preferred extension.
not .de or .co.uk and most country code domains have restrictions on them.
It seems .de and .co.uk are easier to get, but that dosn't make them a preference.

If the country code domain for where you live is available, then buy that!

For .ca you need to have a local presence in Canada (as far as I know) to be eligible for registration.

This is correct http://www.cira.ca/why-ca/eligibility/

As far as published sales go I'm sure .de is the leader.
I personally prefer .ca cause (1) I don't speak German and (2) I am much more familiar with the Canadian marketplace.

.CO.UK does not have restrictions, the other three do. Local presence is required for .CA and .EU, while for .DE either the administrative contact or registrant has to have a German address. So bear in mind these extentions may be hard to trade in if you don't have those local presences required. Only .co.uk doesn't require local presence, and it's a very powerful one.

Just a minor correction! If you are resident in the UK (or probably in any of the EU countries), you can have a .de domain.

You are spot on about .co.uk names. It has a bigger market due to its 'no restrictions' policy.

which one generally sells for a higher price?

for example if i had an english keyword: "domain"

approximately how would the values of domain.com, domain.ca, domain.eu, domain.co.uk vary?
