Though I personally prefer GoDaddy, you can get as cheap or cheaper New Regs from Register who have a special $5 per name for new customers, or NetSol $6.99, so you may want to check them out as well. There are other good Registrars (Name, NameCheap, etc.) you can find if you search the forum. Also, if you Google various domain coupon or discount phrases, such as discount domain names, etc; you will often times find at the top of the list is a GoDaddy link for $5.99 Domains, which is what I generally use. Even more common are the GoDaddy $7.49 Links, which is still a reasonable price.

Honestly, if you have found a reputable Registrar offering .TV names for $10, that's a great price! However, if you visit the GoDaddy Code Thread you will find discount codes for most all extensions. One of which, is a 30% Off code, posted by NP member, abdulbasituae. It lowers the price of .TV $12 - from $39.99 down to $27.99 each.

But, from your first post it sounds like you want to hand reg some names to see how they do parked at namedrive? The answer is not well, same as if you parked your hand reg anywhere else. Domains without traffic can't perform no matter where they are parked.

The only registrar that I know of that currently allows tasting (grace deletion) is Dynadot. They currently charge $2.00 for each .com that's grace deleted (i.e. you get back $7.75 in account credit instead of the $9.75 you paid to register the domain). Other gTLD's can also be tasted for between $1 and $1.50 if deleted. T's and C's (from Dynadot.com):

•Most domains can be grace deleted within 5 days of registration.
•You can request a grace deletion from the control panel in the account area.
•We will give a Dynadot account credit for the full purchase amount minus the deletion fee. This credit can be used for future orders.
•ICANN limits the deletion rate for the gtlds (non country tlds such as .COM, .NET, .ORG, etc.). .IN domains also have this limit. If the 'Curr Rate' field is close the the 'Max Rate' field, your grace deletion may not be processed. If this happens, you have to keep the domain

Keep in mind that for .tv registration prices between 10 and 12 USD are not that rare anymore, renewal prices tend to be a lot higher though.

For .com: why go with the very cheapest instead of with a reliable registrar which may cost you 1 single dollar more? Is that 1 or less dollar you save worth the headaches you may get in case of a very cheap but unreliable registrar?

As a client, I would prefer to sign up with a company offering stable and same prices for registrations and renewals. A company offering .com for 5USD can ask you 15 USD for renewal and then you would have to pay to continue your with your business site and all the SEO hard work you do in that whole year.

On other hand, a registrar/company offering .com for 9.99 USD / year should be preferred as it will be offering same price every year.
