I bought DomainNames.com from NetworkSolutions, but they took it back.

We need to put domains on a blockchain so no assholeism like this or Godaddy's monkey business that had cost me almost $1000 today can happen

How often you get contacted by the old owners that didn't renews the domain? I just got a call from a guy who lost his disabled brother's domain, which he says is very dear to him for emotional reasons. There were both price-beating " I dunno, nobody ever contacted him about ( purchasing) doman"...

When we are paying for a renewal, what are we really paying for?

I mean, I get that, they'll drag your ass outta your domain and all that. But what exactly do they DO for these $ 8,10,15, 19,99 or whatever. What kind of effort is needed on behalf of the registrar to extend your registration date? If not much, why aren't we all do it ourselves?
