Q: domain transfer

Why are people transferring domains from one registrar to another? What is the point in that? If I decide to transfer domains from one registrar to another do I have to pay? Is domain transferring linked to the hosting? e.g. are there any benefits if the domain and hosting of that domain name...

I've read on the Internet thatin the past people downloaded those lists and found names that are will expire, and then getting them. Is it possible to get a list of all registered domains? Or only of all register domains under one TLD, let's say .se? Can someone post a link to that list, please.
