question Domain auctions: Why is expiration date important?

Okay, thanks. I only follow premium domains, where renewal costs are trivial relative to sale price.

    Which registrars sync expiry dates?

Just as an update, I transferred my domains to Name.com, which was a breeze, and then synced the expiration dates, which took about 30 seconds. Great service.

    Which registrars sync expiry dates?

Right now, unless a person registered all of their domains on the same day, their domain expirations are staggered throughout the year, which can be a big hassle/risk. A very few registrars allow owners to change the expiration/renewal date, so the renewals can be on the same day. The only two...

    Guta listings

Seems like a lot of domain owners let them try to broker sales to the Asian market, but the entire site is available in English. They have a huge collection of LLLs and others, but I hardly ever see any sales credited to them, so I don’t know if a disappearing listing generally means a sale or...

    Guta listings

Yes, Guta.com. Seems like they’re mostly targeted toward the Asian market. Not sure if their sales typically get listed/attention here.

analysis How many .com domain names are unused?

I’m curious what percentage of LLL.com are unused. I bet more are parked than used, but that’s just a guess.

question Percentage of LLL actually being used?

I often hear that there are “only” 17,576 LLL, but I’ve never seen an actual usage rate. Anyone know, or want to take an educated guess, as to the percentage of LLL actually being used? (I’m not talking about registered and parked; I’m talking about used by end users.) Thanks.

discuss Got greedy, egoistic and lost a deal

No offense, but who would believe this for a three- or four-digit sale? We're talking about a $500 or $1,000 spread here. Most company boards don't even talk about trivial things like this, let alone take weeks to make a decision.

    question any movement re: LLL.pro?

Bumping this question from two weeks ago, just in case any of the people here have heard anything. Failing any info. re: LLL.pro, is there anyone here known to be associated with that registry/company? Thanks.

information ADO.com Lost in UDRP Because Of Having A Domain Portfolio Page????

That lawsuit is a joke. If Carrillo claims he’d never heard of ADO, he’ll get laughed out of court.

advice Buying LLL.com directly from owner instead of broker?

Thanks for the replies. The domain owner in question owns a lot of domains, including a lot of LLL, while the broker seems to specialize in the Asian market. Since WHOIS tells me who the owner is, it seems like the broker shouldn’t get paid unless he actually finds a buyer. This doesn’t seem...

information ADO.com Lost in UDRP Because Of Having A Domain Portfolio Page????

This is an explicit argument in favor of ADO winning this case. You’re basically admitting that the domain’s value stems solely from the brand ADO has built up over decades.

information ADO.com Lost in UDRP Because Of Having A Domain Portfolio Page????

“Six figures” and $500,000 are two different things in this context. Nobody’s asking $500,000 and then selling for $20,000 to $50,000, where most LLLs seem to sell.

information ADO.com Lost in UDRP Because Of Having A Domain Portfolio Page????

Come on. This guy bought ADO.com but never Googled ADO, where *every hit on the first page* refers to the bus company? If he argued that, he deserved to lose.

advice Buying LLL.com directly from owner instead of broker?

Let’s say there’s a LLL.com I’d like to buy, as an end user. The domain has been owned by the same guy or company for at least a decade and it has never hosted an actual web site. Just when I was ready to make an offer, the owner started listing it at a broker’s web site, but without a price...

sales Telepathy Inc Sells NTW.com - Another Six-Figure Sale?

Five-figure LLL sales probably outnumbered six-plus number LLL sales in 2017 by five or ten to one, but you’re stridently predicting a 900% increase in the LLL floor this year?

    Which registrars sync expiry dates?

It’s very useful to anyone with 100 or fewer domains, which is 99+ percent of domain owners. More registrars assuredly aren’t offering it due to greed.

sales Telepathy Inc Sells NTW.com - Another Six-Figure Sale?

Telepathy owns “hundreds” of LLL? Seems like I only see a few Telepathy LLL sales per year.

sales Telepathy Inc Sells NTW.com - Another Six-Figure Sale?

No chance. There were $9,000 LLL sales in late 2017. No way the floor increases by 900%.

    question any movement re: LLL.pro?

I know that, other than a few existing grandfathered LLL.pro, the .pro registrar isn’t allowing LLL registrations. Are there any rumblings of this changing anytime soon? Thanks.
