If its working for HugeDomains to remove their millions of Domains from the Afternic network and use SEDO MLS (as appears to be the case) it should work for the rest of us.
Godaddy will soon revert this bad decision if this trend continues.
They can only push it soo far. 20% across all sales is a step too far for me.
So MY next steps are:
Step 1. Opt-out
Step 2. If I see what are think they are planning on doing by keep changing the goal posts. i.e ratchet up Boost and ratchet down standard I will move all domains to SEDO MLS +...
Agree feels like working against us. Total lack of transparency with Brokers and slow to follow up.
For example whats the point of showing me that 'Email received from buyer' if you not giving some context for me to act.
Often I have been told that brokers have actually followed up but when I...
Ok I signed up for Namepros to carry on this conversation (long time lurker).
I have been asking Dan questions on Twitter regarding these (hidden from sales pages) 2% cc charges.
Just now most of my questions and others have been censored by Dan on Twitter. Why?
Well someone sent a link to an...
Yes I want that hidden and the 'Good as Gold' Ad.
These things are not 'needs attention'.
If I wanted LTO on all my domains I would have done that already.
Also there are reasons for not using Afternic NS on all domains etc
This is a cash grab plain and simple.
Anyone that wants out from Godaddy as a result of this (or they don't want to be further coerced in the future of giving Godaddy 20% across all sales or having the existing service downgraded). See below calculations for what you could be paying:
Assuming...
They actually advertise on the home page "Transparency first No hidden costs. No complicated math. You’ll never be in the dark, whether you’re buying or selling."
Yet no where are credit card surcharges mentioned.
ONLY after the customer hits buy button AND fills in their details.
Think about...
300 Domains that is completely different ball game to what is advertised.
11K total discount at $5.53 would have been approx 1990 Domains.
Very questionable behaviour advertising one thing and delivering another.
Perhaps those badges don't make much or a difference after all and that's why GD doesn't care that non boosted Landers wont have them...
Personally seeing a tiny badge saying Verified would have no impact on me buying a name. Probably just confuse the average customer. Thinking why wouldn't it...
I have deleted all my names and said I would not post here anymore but I WILL come back if you are now trying a misinformation campaign to discredit me. You could have just left things how they were.
First correction. You hid several of my messages on Twitter. What was the content. Factual...
They were previously absorbing the cc fees in the 9%.
Say actual cc fee is 1.25%
That leaves them with 7.75% in seller fees and 2% in buyer fees. Total 9.75% profit on Dan marketplace?
Why?
They are profitable taking 5% on Efty marketplace (including cc fees)
Dan sellers are actually...
I remember that was suggested years ago on here and nothing was ever done about it.
Not perfect and more needs to be done, but would be an improvement and surely wouldn't have been hard to implement back then.
Also the absolutely awful customer service to OPs first alert to Godaddy should be...
Why not just scrap the subscription model altogether? You can attract more domains and make money on the commission.
If Namepros landers end up doing everything Efty can do and they have Efty pay at 5% and their landers are free why do we need Efty subscriptions?
I am doing the same. ALL names will be removed by the end of today.
I do not want my customers incurring Dan's 2% hidden fees or be one of the guinea pigs while they test out the conversion drop off.
Tried constructive criticism, was censored, now just voting with my feet.
It is completely down to the poorly thought out verification system/emails.
I have a for a long time always logged into my Afternic account and checked if I do actually have the domain listed at Afternic before I click on the confirm fast transfer email. Otherwise the listing could have been...
Please consider the average buyer when we sell a domain.
They are not going to have a clue about all this web 3/wallet address stuff.
If we sell a domain though Afternic as in my example they are not going to be asking customer for a wallet address.
Transferring a domain is probably already...
Agree with most of this except "20% only for specific domains that were bought due to a boost"
Why concede to this. All they are doing is taking away something we already had (that already benefitted both parties) and selling it back to us for 5% extra. No way.
Personally nearly all of my sales are fast transfer.
Checked prior year as well for comparison:
Godaddy - 63%
NameCheap - 13%
Other - 24%
It was more interesting for me to see where my sales outside of Godaddy reg path are coming from.
Can't make any conclusions on it without using...
That might be scammers finding auctions and adding them to Afternic before the new owner gets it. As when I have let domains expire the afternic system moves my Afternic listings into pending review and removes fast transfer. Not seen an instance when it hasn't done that recently.
The whole...
