What's your familiarity with HTML? If you are an expert, then by all means go for it. If you are a novice, Wordpress may be more suitable. Wordpress does the heavy lifting for you and you can focus on the content rather than making the HTML code look right. There are tons of free 'themes'...

I suppose it depends on what the product or service is that you are advertising. What's the appeal of it? Is it relevant to the users that will be browsing the sites? How easy is the 'sell'? How much does each sale bring in? The sites you mention are somewhat generic 'portals' or news sites. I...

Ja$on - I don't like to be a Debbie downer, but just wanted to mention this. If you go to any of the freelance websites, you will see a HUGE number of listings for dating websites to be built. As you know there are some big ones out there but most small ones do not gain very much market share...
