    Geo Domains HQ

Just thought I'd create a thread where we can all talk openly about Geo (Service) Domains. Seems like a hot topic which I've been discussing quite often now. Let's get together and chat geo domains. Advice, Questions, Statistics, Recent Sales, Venting Frustration, etc..

various Report Completed Domain Name Sales Here

Guess it's easier (kinda) scanning expired domains for these odd sounding names then just waking up in the middle of the night and shouting Q o d u s! that's it ;-)

strategy This is how I price my hand-registered domain names

I've been doing this for quite a while and my ratio is about 1 out of 10 geo's sell. I'm asking for around $250 - $500 too. I also end up creating a nice looking landing page for each geo domain I try to sell and email them from myname@namei'mtryingtosell.com. I end up emailing about 50+...

Buyer agreed to pay $1K for my domain - Risk it w/ PP?

Thanks for all the great advice. Earlier, I did write a detailed paypal invoice, the business owner paid me in full (minus the ~$30 fee i had to pay), transferred it right away to my bank lol and they confirmed the domain has been successfully transferred. Yay! Another successful sale. :-)

Is Adam Dicker a criminal? You decide.

The "written contracts" are in our email inbox. And yes, emails do now stand up in court as written contracts. But small claims court does cost more then some people can afford to pay. It's unfortunate that you can't afford to fight for yourself legally. So you have to rely on and hope...

Is Adam Dicker a criminal? You decide.

I just had a quick browse through this monster thread. I'm surprised to see some people defending Adam by saying "buyer beware" and that those who got screwed should just treat it as any other investment not going well and move on. If you read the details from what some people wrote, you'll see...

Nice sales. :-) But damn... NeonKids, PeopleMatic, Qodus, etc.. Where do you guys even come up with those names? lol Yes, yes, I'm jealous

Some great suggestions man. I'm sure it's the same with many others but I tend to be all over the board when it comes to geo domains keywords. Because of this, it would be pretty expensive to buy a WP template for each type of service (unless you use cracked ones). Although if I get $400...

I use HostGator. They're $10/mo and you can have unlimited amount of websites under that one account. I've got about 150 websites under my one account. lol

Yes, you could go for that name with hyphens. Hyphens really are just separators to help search engines and people differentiate the words. In some cases it's a good thing to have when you really need to separate the words such as: expertsexchange.com vs. experts-exchange.com. You wouldn't...

How long before you sold your first domain?

Hey RaiderGirl, Thanks for your honesty. I did research on Sedo, Bodis, Afternic and DN Journal mainly. I found that there were quite a few Web 2.0 domain names that were short and sounded catchy and brandable.. that's why I went with: blogble.com flipba.com I went with...

hmm, that's a new one. I never thought of sending different prices like that. Did you have a good look at the prospect & decide a price which they could afford or were the different prices just random? prices in the initial emails?

There seems to be a fine line between sweetening the deal by offering the domain at a discount on the 2nd email vs them assuming the domain may not be that good after all and that no one else wants it since you're lowering the price. For a sample set of 10 geo domains I regged 1.5 weeks ago, 5...

Not sure if I'd go with that subject line. I mostly just use the domain name itself. Subject: Seattle Plumber Other than that, I agree with @WebInvestments

Great write up @WebInvestments. I'll have to try ZFBot.com next time. It would be great to find a tool which would pull up all of the sites on the top 10 google pages for a certain search term along with their contact email address. Has anyone found a tool like this yet? I'm a bit old skool...

    Geo Domains HQ

You're right with regards to type in traffic. If someone hears via word of mouth about this great company/website called TorontoRealtors, you can be sure when they get home or when they think of it next, they will assume it's TorontoRealtors.com and type that in. I know I do this as do my...

    Geo Domains HQ

Yes, that's the gist of what I did for a couple domains this morning. Still nothing though. They opened that email, opened the paypal invoice but didn't pay the invoice and didn't respond to my email. It's just nuts that someone who's "very interested" just walks away the second after they...

    Geo Domains HQ

Yes, a lot of the more veteran domainers do prefer to have higher profit margins at least in the high $xxx or low $xxxx per domain sold. With that comes risk and waiting. I'd rather sell 5 $300 geo domains at about 2hrs of work per domain within a month then buy a $400 name, chuck it up on BB...

    Geo Domains HQ

Oh I forgot to mention that I do have a landing page setup on all of the domains I try to sell. It's just a nice relevant background image of the city and text overlay saying the domain is for sale, along with my contact info.

I'm just picturing doing email outreach to lawyers and them slapping a lawsuit in my face for unsolicited email (spam). lol city+realestate type names should go pretty easily IF you price them right. Some large cities like Toronto and Vancouver have sold for high amounts but those are the...
