Hey fellow domainers!

I thought it would be interesting to get to know each other a bit better beyond our shared passion for domains. So, aside from being a domainer, what is your day job or profession? Let's uncover the diverse talents within our community!

I'll kick things off: I work on a ship as a seafarer, navigating the open sea. Sometimes, I face the challenge of low connectivity, and there are moments when I'm completely off the grid in the middle of nowhere but I manage it!

Now, it's your turn. Share a bit about what you do beyond domain investing.

Thanks for the thread, nice one! Mine not as adventurous as a seafarer - I work as a BI analyst/developer at a car rental company here in South Africa, using MS SQL Server currently as DBMS + SSIS + SSRS + SSAS. Have worked on Oracle, MySQL and other DB's too. Love data and love what I do!

Own a brick and mortar, industrial goods retail. This ain't working well lately so I'm kinda swamped with it.

Major SaaS startup on the side, OSINT platform + global search engine about to hit market very very soon, exciting stuff. Not gonna post link here though (as it might be considered advertising).

Some extra SaaS planned, already built but not sold yet ( ERP system, Stock inventory app for SMB ).

Mostly tech/ SaaS stuff.

Edit: I'm also always doing smaller deals on the side in various things, like to experiment / play with selling different stuff. One never knows what pops out next from experimenting. This is how I made my successful business so far, domains included.

Absolutely not, all pricing is custom.

Edit: Where possible, using round numbers such as 150 or 1000 etc in the B&M.

Similar to what I do. I work as an electronics tech on an offshore oil drilling rig. You are spot on with the connection issues that might crop up from time to time.

" So, I've worn a few hats in my time – from med tech to flying high in the travel biz, and even owning some plant nurseries. While working as a farmer back in Costa Rica, I kind of stumbled into the domain game. Bought superanuncios.com (2002) for a side gig, and – turns out it's gold for a small biz directory! Now, I'm thinking of selling it along with a few cool extensions like .io, .ai, .tv, and .app. All together, as a neat bundle. Big thanks for the awesome initiative of allowing us to virtually introduce ourselves! 😊"

It depends on who you're asking... I have a lot of stuff going on paying the bills but I'm a 'househusband' on my 'day to day job'. The only job that really matters to me.

I'm there when my kid wakes up, take her to school, make sure to be there when she returns and spend time together. I don't mind working at night to run my businesses and work at a primary school at day.

Blessed to be able to. Domaining has at times highly contributed to the fact to be able to.

Thanks for this thread @Pusang Gala

I'm a Web Developer, lately I'm investing my time on developing my own product related to generative AI.

I started as a Java developer after completing my graduation on Computer Engineering. Later I shifted my focus to web development with PHP, WordPress etc. I did that for a while, and then became more involved in front end development with JavaScript, as my employer of that time needed it.

After a while, I started doing freelance gigs full time. Because of the nature of freelance web development and consultancy, I actually had to do all sorts of things for my clients - SEO, content writing, Linux server management, analytics, web security just to name a few.

You could say I started with Java software development, but later became my own one man army related to all things web. So investing in domain names eventually became a natural choice.

I install, and repair (not necessarily after the install ) the internet for consumers and businesses, ensuring solid connectivity. You can find me up a pole in the countryside one minute, and in a fancy condo the next. Lots of adventure!

Been at it for almost two decades, wouldn't trade it for anything. Sometimes, run into some friendly critters really makes your day;

In the past, during college - a few Adsense websites and a few dollars from Amazon Affiliate too. Now back to this game again. I have better domains now. :)

My other job is retirement! :xf.grin:

Previously I was mainly a teacher and researcher in physics, electronics, education and astrophysics, along with some writing, outreach and administrative responsibilities.

On the side, I ran a very small home-based landscape photography business for about a decade.

This is a great thread, @Pusang Gala! Thanks for starting it.

Also big thanks to all who replied. It is really interesting to know what people do in their other lives, and see all of the variety.

I've tried a lot of different jobs. From lab tech, mailman, consultant, affiliate marketer, and factory worker, to professional poker player (after 8 years I was just sick of it).

Sold my affiliate websites around Christmas 2017 when I discovered domain investing. I was completely hooked right from day one. For a few months now, domaining has been my only real moneymaking activity.

Because I now have so much free time at my hands, I've just started to dabble with domain parking and building a website (making a comeback after 6 years away from it).

More than 2 decades ago I used to do farm labouring and various jobs like that.
Then I got into IT and have been self-employed for 20 years. First in computer repairs, networking, etc, but these days I do Corporate IT Procurement. I also do some share-trading and manage some investments on the side.
