China will; step in and take that oil off your hands. Again, weakening the U.S. and strengthening China helps Canada how?
western canada along with north and south dakota were depending on that pipeline to get their oil to refineries in the southern us. the oil will still get there but by the much more expensive and dangerous method of rail.

Dream on. You are ticked off because a United States citizen was elected to represent the United States first and foremost. Would you appreciate someone elected to your highest office that put everyone else first and you last? I don't think so. But Biden won't put Canada first, he will tank our economy, which directly effects you, he will weaken our military, which will effect you, he will be viewed as compromised dip[lomatically, and disrespected, which will also effect you.

But you go on about what an awful guy Trump is, how it was awful that he got our economy running, that he saved millions of lives by streamlining the vaccination, your elder relatives will be getting vaccinated because of that evil man, how lowering unemployment of african americans to never before seen levels, you just go do that.

I never expect a handout from anyone, least of which the President of the United States. What does the US Agency for International Development do in Canada? It might surprise you that nearly 100% funding goes toward general environmental protection. Just look at the years that Trump was in office (the difference between obligations and dispursements, see graph below for details) vs Obama years. Then look at China:

https://explorer.usaid.gov/cd/CAN?fiscal_year=2015&measure=Disbursements

https://explorer.usaid.gov/cd/CAN?fiscal_year=2019&measure=Disbursements

https://explorer.usaid.gov/cd/CHN?fiscal_year=2018&measure=Disbursements

under biden we can kiss good bye to the keystone xl pipeline. trump was making sure that would go through.

Plan B: Diversify the Alberta economy and develop alternative energy.

Does that come as any surprise? It's called capitalism. Did you notice on the graph that Trump actually provided more military support to China than Obama. Does that surprise you?

The thing Canadians should remember is, as we go, you go... That is not good for Canada. So, whatever.

If Trump actually thought the way you do, US would have been more neighbourly. In terms of regional rank (Western Hemisphere) Canada ranks lowest 34th of 34, Columbia ranks first O_o In terms of income group Israel ranks highest, Canada ranks 54th of 54 (2019 average $71M, Canada -$14M). Go team!

Things sure are not working out very well for Josh Hawley. Let's see what his home state newspapers are saying about his role in this...

The Kansas City Star
Assault on democracy: Sen. Josh Hawley has blood on his hands in Capitol coup attempt

St. Louis Dispatch
Editorial: Hawley should resign. Silent enablers must now publicly condemn Trumpism.

Simon & Schuster dropped him.

Publisher Cancels Book By Sen. Hawley, Citing His Role In Inciting Capitol Attack

He is a lawyer, I am not sure how he doesn't understand how the 1st amendment works. Here he is whining about it.

and
@simonschuster

They’re a private company, they don’t have to publish your dumb book if they don’t want to. It’s not an infringement on your 1st amendment right in the least. Enjoy your legacy Senator. You earned it.

Indeed. The legacy of the people behind this is not going to be a good one.
Every senator's name will be remebered for their role in this.

The house members who backed it likely won't be remembered, as they are irrelevant and many will be out of office soon.

There will be primaries to these people, but not from the Trump part of the party. They will come from the center part, the reasonable part. Everyone listed here has flushed their legacies down the toilet, forever members of the sedition caucus.

Senators who objected

Ted Cruz (TX)
Josh Hawley (MO)
Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS)
Cynthia Lummis (WY)
John Kennedy (LA)
Roger Marshall (KS)
Rick Scott (FL)
Tommy Tuberville (AL)

Rejected by a billionaire donor -

A Joplin businessman who helped bankroll Sen. Josh Hawley’s first campaign denounced him on Thursday as a “political opportunist” who used “irresponsible, inflammatory, and dangerous tactics” to incite the rioting that took over the U.S. Capitol Building.

In a statement late Thursday, David Humphreys, president and CEO of Tamko Building Products, added his voice to a growing chorus of Republicans angry at Hawley for leading a challenge to the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Humphreys called on the U.S. Senate to censure Hawley “for provoking yesterday’s riots in our nation’s capital.”

Rejected by his mentor -

A Republican colleague rebuked him on the Senate floor. A home-state newspaper editorial board declared he has "blood on his hands." But for Josh Hawley, the Missouri senator who staged an Electoral College challenge that became the focus of a violent siege of the Capitol, the words of his political mentor were the most personal.

"Supporting Josh Hawley ... was the worst decision I've ever made in my life," former Missouri Sen. John Danforth told The Associated Press on Thursday. "He has consciously appealed to the worst. He has attempted to drive us apart and he has undermined public belief in our democracy. And that's great damage."

5 persons already have died because of Trump. He incited his mobs to swarm the Capitol with "strength". Trump has not only incited the insurrection, the sedition, but he has the blood of 5 persons in his hands.
First he brainwashed his supporters during two months making them to believe somebody has stolen the elections. Then he calls the mobs on the Capitol the day lawmakers will count electoral votes, and then he calls the mobs to go with strength to the Capitol, to not let them steal the elections.
Trump is totally culpable for what happened, for inciting the Sedition and the Insurrection that lead to the Capitol invasion and to 5 deaths.
The Law must prosecute him for what he has done.

Capitol Police officer dies from injuries after clashing with pro-Trump mob

The officer, Brian D. Sicknick, is the fifth person to die from Wednesday's violent clash in Washington.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer died Thursday after being injured in clashes with pro-Trump rioters in the Capitol the day before.

Officer Brian D. Sicknick was injured while physically engaging with protesters Wednesday and returned to his division office, where he collapsed, Capitol Police spokeswoman Eva Malecki said in a statement. He was taken to a hospital, where he died about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

This could have ended much worse.

Jim Bourg
@jimbourg

I heard at least 3 different rioters at the Capitol say that they hoped to find Vice President Mike Pence and execute him by hanging him from a Capitol Hill tree as a traitor. It was a common line being repeated. Many more were just talking about how the VP should be executed.

@AndrewFeinberg

There are multiple photographs of pro-Trump rioters carrying law enforcement-style flex-cuffs. Rioters went looking for @vp, @SpeakerPelosi, @SenSchumer. It raises the question of whether there was an organized plan to take hostages.

Justice Dept. Open to Pursuing Charges Against Trump in Inciting Riot

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/07/us/politics/justice-department-trump-capitol.html

The top federal prosecutor in Washington said investigators were examining anyone involved, “not only the people who went into” the Capitol.

The Justice Department said on Thursday that it would not rule out pursuing charges against President Trump for his possible role in inciting the mob that marched to the Capitol, overwhelmed officers and stormed the building a day earlier.

We are looking at all actors, not only the people who went into the building,” Michael Sherwin, the U.S. attorney in Washington, told reporters.

Mr. Sherwin was asked whether such targets would include Mr. Trump, who exhorted supporters during a rally near the White House, telling them that they could never “take back our country with weakness.” Propelled by Mr. Trump’s baseless claims of election irregularities, the protesters had gathered to demonstrate against Congress’s certification of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s Electoral College victory and moved on to the Capitol after the president’s rally.

Mr. Sherwin said he stood by his statement. “We’re looking at all actors,” he said. “If the evidence fits the elements of a crime, they’re going to be charged.

Enjoy the years in prison. We will see if you are still smiling.

The man photographed sitting at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk has been arrested and charged with three federal counts including theft of public property, federal officials said Friday.
Federal officials said Richard Barnett of Arkansas was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock.

he isn’t going to prison .. if he does it will be for 12 months max ... but I doubt it ..

Why is it you people get off so much on slamming people to jail and prison ??? If I say I am going to protest ... the reaction I get from the left is ... the cops will lock you up ... go ahead ..... you people seem to have no problem with lives and families being destroyed by people who “May” have committed a misdemeanor crime

This was not "protesting".

He is one of the faces, outside of Trump, of this seditious attack against the US and democracy itself.

He is facing potentially 20 years, for one charge.

You mean the well known qanon supporter Jake Angeli? Your picture conveniently cuts out the sign. Maybe that is why it is labeled "manipulated media".

He will soon be arrested and will be facing a lengthy prison sentence as well.

most charges carry a “potential” sentence ... it most usually is never passed down ... district attorneys plea cases 99% more than they procedure them in a court room ... I did 27 days for one of my convictions ... the max sentence was 7 years .... I received 90 days ... was released after 27 for good time ... 3 days for 1 and so on ... the man was clowning in Nancy Pelosi office and entered the US Capitol Building ... his charges will be reduced from what they are most likely.. to criminal trespass and possibly destruction of federal property .. that will be it ... a charge on him for a seditious act won’t stick ..

Brad ... most of the people will face charges of trespassing and criminal mischief in the end ..

An example @bmugford.

I have been to jail 14 times .. 5 of those times I was charged with a Felony crime ... that by police ... so I had to pay the bail amount of a felony crime .... that hurts .. one was set at $ 25,000 ... I had to hire a bail bonds and pay them 10% or $2,500 to get out of jail ... I carried the felony charges until the district attorney reduced the felony charges to misdemeanor charges .. that can happen fast or the DA can sit on the original charge for a while .... so once the felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.. my attorney and the DA get together ... they came to an agreement of punishment ... my lawyer offered me the punishment requested by the DA ... I can accept or decline the DA offer ... it’s better to accept .. so I accept the DA offer ... I go to court on my court date assigned ...the judge reads the agreement ... I say ... yes your honor ... and begin serving my sentence at that time.

there is no throw the book at them when the crime or crimes are not large ... the system in America is not to imprison every one who fucks up for 20 years
