Hi everyone, I am looking for advise. I've never sold a domain name...

I just received a $500 initial offer via godaddy for the domain coronavirusprevention dot org

What are some thoughts on this? Do you think it's worth more?
Do you think I'm lucky to get this offer at all?

As far as I see it, corona virus isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and even though it's a long name, it is an "exact match" as far as the spelling goes.

So please, looking for advise and thoughts on this. What would you do?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Virus Protection in the com can be had for 5888 right now. If I owned VirusProtection I would have the top end asking price at 15000.

Agreed. That name is definitely priced to sell.

I wouldn't be in a hurry with to sell that name anyway as more viruses will come. There's also a huge tech industry potentially interested so that would justify a moonshot.

A clean lifestyle that creates a naturally strong immune system is the best weapon, defense and prevention against coronaviruses. This fact always has been, always is and always will be.

Ah yes I forgot, It is not only about not to get sick but also to get back a good lifestyle, I don't think you like going around with a mask, don't enjoy a restaurant, seeing sports on tv without anyone attending and many more issues now I can't recall...

A clean lifestyle that creates a naturally strong immune system is the best weapon, defense and prevention against coronaviruses. This fact always has been, always is and always will be.

High dose of D3 and zinc and C vitamins is best.

D3 and C boosts immune system.

C boosts the lymph nodes to boost production of white blood cells which contain antibodies.

Boosting immune system.

Zinc kills all viruses.

You just need to get past the virus' pesky sheath coating.

That's where hydroxchloroquine comes in.

As far as this thread for a coronavirus domain. How long will it take before "people" will come in here and criticize you for profiting from the sale of a coronavirus domain?

Which explains the reason why you need to modify the domain name before this thread pops up in Google searches.

I wouldn't go "advertising" you are just about to sell a coronavirus domain. Good luck buddy!

maybe it's them : coronavirus//prevention//network/dot/org

Maximum price - $5000
After all it's org extension.
Bear in mind the domain name is not evergreen, it's trending, hence its value is time-sensitive.

Just sent that counter offer, I'll let you know what happens!

May the negotiation yield abundance and the name go to the best hands and caretaker. (y)

I wouldn't sell this for less than $5000. Likely I'd keep it! for a project :wideyed:

I anticipate you will be receiving interest from multiple parties, no need to rush and sell.

Any traffic?

The $33k was a bad advice in my opinion! You should have waited for other replies before sending your counter offer.

Be realistic this is 3 words .org, max potential sale value is mid xxxx.

Good luck

It's not just bad advice. It's a deal killer. Might still be able to get some out of it but if I made that offer I would think, who is that clown? And move on to another domain priced realistically.

It's not always about what a domain could be worth, but also about what similar domains are going for and potentially will go for.

Like @Mister Funsky pointed out, a better .com for just 5K available. That should be the reference for your counter.

Edit: if you're motivated to sell that is. If you want to hold long term, it's more complicated.

I agree.

I would like to also add that the problem with 3 words domains is that there are numerous alternatives (which lowers their value) I am sure I can find an alternative hand reg .org in seconds!

This is what I do when I am normally in bad mood or annoyed by an offer, shooting for the moon. I can say it worked times and other times the potential buyer disappeared. I can understand where @Compassion is coming from. By pricing it like this, he is hoping atleast 10K can be reached specially if the person buying it is having the backing of an international NGO or a big pharmaceautical company.

Lets see how it goes.

Just sent that counter offer, I'll let you know what happens!

If you do not get a response from them and you feel you have asked too much at 33K, depending on how you initially responded to their offer, you could simply say your decimal ended up in the wrong place and you meant to say $3,300...at the same time let them know that is a firm number.

There are several good observations above re the shelf life of this name. I have watched offers on names in this segment go from 7500 to 2500 in 3 months.

OR, as said above, wait a while and see if/what they say. This is the tough part for all of us. I just had someone offer 500 for a name that is worth 10K at wholesale...I countered at 50K and even sent them escrow payment info...I hope it ruined their night!

In the future, always go slow when responding with a price...do a thorough price check of any similar names for sale and look at names that may be developed that are similar...it may give you a hint as to the potential buyer.

You can tell from this thread there are people here that are willing to give constructive input so don't hesitate to reach out in the future for pricing assistance. Don't feel like you have to do anything immediately...come back at all of this tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will sell at your asking price!

It's Virus Prevention :xf.wink:

Too good of a price for an end-user, indeed!

not only domains - there are many things that are selling or will sell in the future centered around the COVID category.

Thanks for finding that error...I tried to go back and edit but it is too late. I should have said:

Virus Prevention in the com is 5888
Virus Protection in the org is 4999

The current generic page on it will bring in the right offer.

If you want to sell this domain for thousands you definitely can.

If your first buyer has a budget of up to about $5000 they may eek their offer up.

Or the five figure buyer may come.

You could make a fortune selling products and affiliating with appropriate companies.
People buy most things online now anyways :pigeon::cat::cow::penguin::happy:

Yea, initially it was a GoDaddy landing page, but I changed that to give someone the option of contacting me directly. I have not gotten a response from my 33k counter offer yesterday...go figure.

If they can spend 5k they'll come back with an offer.

If you will settle for less than this the offers will come.

Oh no, the initial offer was $500

That could mean they have $5000 to spend.

That's a higher opening offer than meets the eye.
It's a waiting game now. It's been a little over 24 hours since I sent the counter offer.

Thank you for the wise words. I feel I made a mistake by countering 33k to their 500 offer.
