Hello all,

I've been lurking about here for a few weeks and just joined-up properly, so thought it was time I should say hello.

Really great to be here, what an awesome resource. Planning to be here a lot.

Looking forward to chatting with you all moving forward.

Thx for having me.

Dan.

Thanks @briguy

Yeah, I was sitting bored one day flicking through one of my GF's magazines and there was a section on beauty trends in 2017, or something similar. This kind of sparked my interest and got me thinking about whether there would be any value in catching trend-centric domain names before they went fully mass-market/expensive. Leading on from that I bought one (crappy in hindsight) domain and then life got in the way and I left it to gather dust for maybe a year.

I ended up coming back to the domaining thing a few months back and came across Domain Sherpa and the resources over there. Since then, I've pretty much dived head-first in to learning as much as I can from the community’s experiences, errors and successes. Safe to say, I am hooked—but trying to remain level headed.

Very focused on not putting the "cart before the horse" on this. I did the usual thing of buying up a few (very few) bits of rubbish, but aiming to be more strategic now. I have less than 20 domains at this point and I would prefer to keep it that way until I really “learn how to buy” as one of your members stated, very wisely, in another thread.

As for what I have been doing, I have a background in demand generation, sales, marketing and social, so I have a decent idea of how to reach and convert an end user (I say that in general sense, realizing that this experience doesn’t necessarily transfer fully over to the domaining stuff). At this stage though, I am more focused on getting a solid understanding of the science/art of the bit before this-- getting the right domain in-hand and from there hopefully the process of selling them on might take place slightly more organically—that’s the theory anyway.

For now, I think I have a couple of saleable names, which I would like to sell on and reinvest any profits in something higher quality in the aftermarket. That’s my goal for now, beyond that— let’s see.

Again, glad to be here. It really feels like a long time since something has grabbed my interest so fully.

Lots to learn, so any advice, feedback, being brought down to earth etc. is gratefully accepted.

Thx—Dan.
