Ooer - this one's going to run for a while... :O

From DomainNameNews:
SnapNames User Name “Halvarez” Was Nelson Brady, VP of Engineering Bidding on Domain Names [Updated]
[Updated] According to a statement from Oversee.net’s SnapNames, an employee was found to have bid in 5% of their auctions since 2005 and in some cases arranged for a partial refund of the sales price after winning an auction. DNN also confirmed the bidder as Nelson Brady, the VP of Engineering. He was bidding under the username “halvarez”.

From Snapnames:
SnapNames User Name “Halvarez” Was Employee Bidding on Domain Names
To avoid any question about whether the company benefited from this conduct, SnapNames will offer a rebate to impacted customers, including 5.22% interest (the highest applicable federal rate during the affected time period), of the difference between the prices they paid in winning auctions, and the prices they would have paid had the employee not bid in the auctions. Impacted customers will be notified by SnapNames or its representative with instructions for the offer of a rebate.

SnapNames also has taken further action to ensure its policies regarding auctions are followed, and the company remains committed to taking whatever action is necessary to protect the integrity of its auction platform.

SnapNames deeply regrets this situation and is committed to addressing its customers’ needs quickly and fairly.

There's also a FAQ page at Snapnames

Dear Rob.

Was Nelson Brady using just "One" alias? and when did he Start his Halvarez account Exactly? Please...

Hi Deb,

You asked this last night and I lost track of it in all of the messages. My apologies.

The employee involved used one alias, "halvarez" and started making unauthorized bids using that bidding alias in March 2005.

Rob --

Those of us who are involved know that Halvarez started before 2005 and was bidding LONG past 2007... so what little information you have given out has been FALSE.

So why should anyone believe you when you say there was only 1 shill bidding account?

And WHY has the bid history before 2007 been removed from everyone's accounts? Do you really think this is a good time to be hiding data from customers?

Thanks Rob i appreciate it it will help us work out where to start or work back to when our order history is reinstated in the next few days hopefully.

This should be able to be sorted out reasonably and Oversee/Snapnames will make changes to improve themselves whilst learning from their current pain.

Rob your doing a good job in difficult circumstances:tu:

mobigod, you might just want to check out ALL of this post from page one of this thread,
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name...snapnames-auctions-uncovered.html#post3642448

In particular, the last 2 lines answer your questions...

This post from page 9 might also be of interest, seems Rob is "running" as fast as he can between forums to answer people's question/do damage control.

What about a SnapNames customer with an auction in which the suspected account had entered?

That'll most likely be the minimum criteria to join a class action lawsuit, if ever.

Thank you, Deb. I appreciate that.

I appreciate the desire to know with whom one is dealing. I'm the Director of Inside Sales & Support for Oversee which includes the support operations for all three businesses. As I'm responsible for all outgoing messaging for our customers, I've taken on the task of keeping as many of the forums up to date with as much as I can share while the rest of my team handles incoming support cases and calls.

Thanks for your patience while we all, you included, continue to work through this.

I don't blame you.

This whole approach of "we'll give you back a few bucks and yada yada 5% this and 5% that makes me sick". They should give a refund for the total amount less the standard back-order fee, period. Anything less is doing nothing more that adding insult to injury.

Agreed,

I will join the class action law suit that will arise from all this. I have not been able to sleep for 48 hours now, this entire fraud has had a negative impact on my health... my stress level has increased... they have cheated me and i cant sleep over it...

You've got to admit, that's a pretty funny title in light of recent events :]

More like the Director of Inside Trading...LOL.

I hope Rob, Nelson and all their buds went to Walgreens and loaded up on vaseline and pencils.

He accounted for 1% of revenue over the years...that is huge.

1% of "incremental revenue" change from domain names; that will be much more than 1% of total revenue.

I could not be more disappointed by all of this.

Seriously, you ought to get some sleep. It won't do you any good stressing over this, and getting any
kind of rest can help you think better.

Regarding the order history, I have confirmed that SnapNames order history has been truncated to a rolling 2 years since June 2005. This is why everyone's history stops at November 2007. This change was not made recently or in connection with the issue announced yesterday. Now, we are looking at providing it beyond the standard 2 years cut-off. We haven't done that for more than 4 years so it's something we need to look into and we're doing that.

Another account history issue

Oversees Rob,

Thanks for taking the time to visit this thread. I'm sure you're busy redoing your resume and looking at Yahoo Jobs.

But seriously I'm past Snapnames customer who account history has ben suspended because I stopped using Snapnames. I'd like access to my account again to see how much Mr. I'm Smarter Than You Dumb Domainers Brady has cost me. But I don't really want Snapnames to have a current CC number from me.

Please allow expired custoemrs to access their accounts without updated CC information.

Thanks and good luck you'll need it because of the circling lawyer pool.

One thing is for sure - Rob is NOT who he says he is.

Everyone involved in this knows halvarez did not stop in 2007, and anyone working for Oversee would know that and not be posting such nonsense here.

Do you know why that statement is incorrect?

Think about it and re read the thread...

I've read the thread and his posts on both forums. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Right "Rob", "Nelson", "Kjel", or whatever your name is?
