thanks mjnels
i would assume all good numbers are gone by now

it would only be picking the bones
i managed to pick up some halfway decent LLLL.com for reg fee so you never know

i am thinking more and more that short addresses are going to be bigger on mobi for obvious reasons even with browser default

there must be some way to make 4 numbers memorable !

Look at your phone keypad. Each number (except 1 and 0) represents letters.

Try this site:
http://www.t9.com/

See available NNNN.mobi here
www.whi.ms

Go to left side menu near bottom.

Be creative...YOU make them memorable. Make the numbers into words and promote them as such.

For instance...call DATE.MOBI
So you're hunting and pecking for the letters D-A-T-E
Or, simply say...call 3283.MOBI

Words are better, but the numbers can have value if they represent strong words associated with them. It is all in the marketing and how you promote them.

Then you can say...call (WORD) but the customer is actually putting in your number.

thanks for the pointer to the NNNN.mobis

and yes, i am aware that the numbers equal letters

the problem is that for example if you have 2665 it spells "cool" and "book" etc

but somebody allready has book.mobi and cool.mobi, so it gets tricky how you sell the site using the number-word association

i would say you are better off with a nonsense LLLL.mobi than a NNNN.mobi in some sense because you can use joko.mobi better than 5656.mobi

am i missing something here?

Not really. As I say, it is all in the marketing and promoting it should you choose to develop.

Book, cool, twentysix sixtyfive...
joko, fiftysix fiftysix...

The point is THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES. If say, you are a book seller, and book is gone, then what is the numeric equivalent to B-O-O-K?

Clubs, club, bar, bars...gone. Cool...gone. What is an alternative? the numerical equivalent.

Also, keep in mind we are only discussing English words here where numbers are universal.

I'm just saying that there are alternatives.

Without looking at your phone pad, tell me which numbers you would push for D-I-N-E-R. Gotta hunt and peck unless you have a Qwerky keyboard

P-I-Z-Z-A. Dialing pizza is still going to be 74992. So perhaps who ever owns pizza.mobi will want 74992 to corner the market.

Kind of like the tv commercials...CALL 1-800-555-TALK. You still have to find talk.

So I think it is a matter of preference, numbers are universal in any language, there are alternatives, it is a matter of marketing and promoting. It is all about you and want you think and what you see in this. Just passing on something to ponder, consider, and think about.

Okay, class over.

6529, 25277 6837.

good points all

it is all about branding in the long run

007, 888, 900, 411, 911

all were just numbers until they were branded

BINGO!

But I think the biggest thing to keep in mind is numbers are universal.

F-O-O-D is 3883. But it is registered to someone in china. What are the possible word combinations in Chinese for the same 4 numbers?

You want the ODDS to a football game? You can key in ODDS.mobi. Or, you're going to dial 6337 if you don't have an alpha keypad.

Guess who you're going to connect with? Me at 6337.mobi.

It's all about branding. Be creative. I gave you the tools and the ideas, now get to 9675!

Or perhaps it is folks coming to the realization...you mean I can use numbers on my cell phone? :hehe:

Hard to imagine a more appropriate extension for registering numbers.

true, but there is still a lot of uncertainty about random NNNN's that "spell things" and the sort.... im just suprised to see 4% of the entire NNNN registry taken in 24 hours..and 5 months after landrush at that! i dont even own that many and i got mine on Oct. 11th!

that's insane! Although I'm dissapointed about the auction news this definitely was a pleasant surprise. I think we'll see them all dissapear pretty soon. People are now realizing they are about to go which will cause a chain reaction and everyone will want to grab them. It's the hype that creates more hype. I predict by next Monday Morning all NNNN.mobi's will be gone.

Maybe, im still curious what theyre gonna do with all those random NNNN's

One single person registered at least 2,000 in the last week it seems.. and some of those were before 1-year regs were allowed.
