  1. In this week's Top Topics, domain investors discuss the latest domain sales data released by GoDaddy, which is headed by the $977,500 sale of SelfMade.com. Elsewhere, we look at the U.S. government's stimulus checks and whether they will create more domain sales, and is a collectively owned domain name registrar a good idea?

    SelfMade.com Sells for $977,500

This week, GoDaddy released a list of domains sold on its platform in October 2020. The company always delays releasing sales data by several months in order to get the required approval to publish the sales.

SelfMade.com led the pack, selling at $977,500 to a fabric and hobby craft company. Here, domain investors are discussing the sale of SelfMade.com as well as the other sales disclosed by GoDaddy.

Will Stimulus Checks Create an Uptake in Domain Sales?

The U.S. government has now approved a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill that includes a $1,400 stimulus check being sent to a reported 85% of U.S. households, many are wondering if this move will help to boost the economy.

Domain investors are specifically questioning whether the $1,400 checks will create more domain name sales in the lower end of the market. So far, domainers seem to think this will not positively impact domain sales. What do you think?

Where Can I Sell My Crypto Domains?

The question being asked in this discussion is not concerning traditional domain names. This domainer is interested in selling some .COIN and .ETH domains. These are blockchain domains that don’t resolve in a typical Internet browser.

Therefore, marketplaces such as Sedo do not currently accept these domain names, but is there a market for blockchain domains? Are you able to sell this kind of domain?

    Trending Niches in Domaining

Trending niches can be extremely lucrative. Just this week, Mike Mann reported that he sold DigitalArtists.com for $300,000, likely capitalizing on the NFT craze. It can be important to keep abreast of trends as a domain investor.

Here, a domainer has shared a small list of current trends that they see in terms of domain registrations as well as in the domain aftermarket. Which niches do you think are trending at the moment?

Is a Collectively Owned Registrar a Good Idea?

Domain name investors often have gripes about domain name registrars, and it’s difficult to find a registrar that caters to a domainer’s every need in terms of both registrar features and perceived legal protection.

In this discussion, the idea of a collectively-owned domain name registrar is being floated. Would a domain name registrar co-owned by domain name investors be a sound idea?

@James Iles not only is diligent in finding topics worth highlighting, but is super up to date!
Thanks for including this discussion on a collectively-owned domain registrar that I created just 48 minutes ago!

DigitalArtists is an interesting name, could have been sold long ago, but as you say the NFT craze probably why it ended up selling now and for so much.

Would also like to note that your article on Brent's locked domains is the most discussed of the month (and probably a long time ago) and has spawned another thread, this one started by @equity78, that is the second most popular this week.

Thanks again for the weekly roundup, and mention.
