To many readers, the domain name AUS.com may be familiar. Once owned by Ali Zandi (@Zandibot) and mentioned on a DomainSherpa review of his recent flips, the valuable three-letter .COM has been sold between various domain investors, until now.
On or around July 27th, the domain name was sold to Allied Universal Security Services, following a merger between Universal Services of America and AlliedBarton. According to reports, the merger is expected to produce revenues of $4.5 billion per year.
The asking price for AUS.com was $350,000, although at this point it is unclear as to whether the name sold at the asking price, or slightly below.
Hopefully we may know more at a later date, as large sales such as this are often mentioned in SEC filings.
AUS.com has already been put to good use by its new owners, as the name is now home to Allied Universal's brand new website.
In other three-letter .COM news, DomainNameWire.com tweeted on Friday about domain investor Andy Booth's latest acquisition: a handful of three-letter .COM's, purchased from Anything.com.
I emailed Andy for details about the transaction. Unfortunately, nothing can be disclosed about it, but Andy did say that he considers three-letter .COM's to be undervalued right now.
Thanks to James Booth (@BoothDomains) of domain brokerage firm BQDN.com for the AUS.com tip.
Update on Aug 15, 2016: According to an email from the seller of AUS.com, the final sales price was $345,000.
