It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Yes, it does sound a little unfair at this point. Times have changed and it seems that ICANN is more liberal in allowing alternative extensions. I mean, I'm amazed .co is even out there being such a blatent typo of .com. Not to mention the onslaught of other extensions that could come online. (.xxx, .music, .vegas, ect..) So, I'd agree that there is a good argument here to allow .pro to remove the restrictions and compete more with the other alternate extensions out there.

I noticed that Forex.pro is going to be auctioned between 2-9 December on Sedo / Great Domains. FX.pro would be nice, not sure there will be much interest in Forex.pro, it might be a bit niche. It works well in terms of professional aspiration and there are 4-5 developed .coms with ForexPro in the URL so it might be something you can add a zero to in the long run.
From the latest DNJournal sales report:

Forex.pro $15,000 Sedo

and Broker.pro provided $1,850

Have added Broker.pro and Forex.pro to the sales prices page on Total.pro. That's a very impressive start to 2011. Both domains are still in Sedo escrow, it will be interesting to see who has bought Forex.pro when the WHOIS updates.

Both domains are still in Sedo escrow

Although it's a good idea to have listed all your domains at as many places as possible, I sincerely advise against the use of SEDO where there may be another option.

Their escrow service is expensive and too slow and they also do nothing to boost sales of the extension. It is almost impossible to find a .pro there, unless you search for it explicitly!

This has nothing to do with ICANN; .co is a ccTLD that is used for many years, and ICANN is not responsible whether a CCTLD has liberal or strict policies.

But for the rest of your post, I agree.

Nice sale for the .pro popularity. But at the same time it is a wise investment, congrats the buyer. Buyer will probably get much from this investment whether by developing or keeping and selling it later.

Here is your hostway update. I'll bring you updates on my experience as Hostway is offering the best price of 9.95 renewals and transfers. However, I'm being told that their .pro transfer is not fully functional. I'll know next week if I'm able to transfer names from encirca, but its likely they won't be able to. Will know more next week and I'm going to continue to push hostway to get this resolved. Its amazing a hosting company can't transfer a domain?! It's like just don't give me your business?! Anyway, there customer service has been nice and I do hope they resolve their issues in the next few months as their pricing is the way they all should be.

Encirca promised pricing similar to .com, but at they ended up giving us 14.95 renewals instead of 9.99 renewals so can't say i'm happy about that either.

Total .pros registered rose from 49,374 to 50,128 in September 2010. That is up from 6,061 in February 2008, an eight-fold increase in 17 months.

Electric.Pro

Now at Sedo electric.pro is $2k with 20+ hours to go

Could the .Pro extension be the one that Domainers let get away ?

With all the hype the last few years with cctlds pitched to us and backed by GoDaddy...a gltd that is memorable with primo available names is just simply ignored.

Makes no sense to me.

Be careful with that rss list from sedo. Its quirky and pulls up old sales from a few years back. But, not to diminish the fact that .pros are cooking up. With 50K+ registrants, lower prices and recent sales of 15K. I think the extension is moving in the right direction. Electric.pro for auction looks good as well.

I'd like to see some more developed .pro sites and am working hard on my good batch of domains as seo potential is great as well with premium .pro domains! Charles must be happy about his electrical.pro buy as he grabbed it right out from under me. Can't win em all, but that was a good buy.

http://inetcore.com/project/ipv4ec/index_en.html IPv4 Exhaustion Counter
14-Feb-2011 - X day

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6
The most important feature of IPv6 is a much larger address space than in IPv4. The size of IPv6 addresses is 128 bits, compared to 32 bits in IPv4. The address space therefore supports 2^128 or approximately 3.4×1038
addresses. By comparison, this amounts to approximately 5×1028
addresses for each of the 6.8 billion people alive in 2010.

IPv6 adress space 2^128 (2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2...128 times)
IPv4 addres space 2^32

All rootservers of domains supports IPv6. In current time only .PRO is not!

Even domain of Afğānistān

Hi Netime and Skyline

I get the gist of what you're talking about but that's about it. Does the outline indicate that Pro's are not getting acknowledged? If you're indicating a significant problem, is anything being done about it?

Thanks
Layman

Maybe the reason .pro doesn't support IPv6 is because with 50,000 domains registered, it doesn't need to. When every person alive wants 5 x 1028.pros, we can upgrade.

Could someone recommend a good Domain Name Portfolio Management site / software? I've been using DomainPortfolio(dot)us but it's kind of plain and not very flexible. Thanks!

it takes only five minutes to switch ipv6 system, I don't see any problem about it. They don't need now, that's all.

I like the sound of that! I figure main stream popularity is a remote possibility in this extension which is the reason I'm in with both feet.

If you incorporate you give yourself a business. A lawyer should probably chime in here, but that should be all it takes. If your licenced for business I don't know what else they would need.

I've never incorporated, quite frankly because I've never made enough money to worry about it. Incorporating, in the US, allows you to take XX% of your profit as your salary and label the remaining percentage as dividend. You don't pay the self-employment tax on the dividend which saves you $150 per $1000 of dividend. To the best of my knowledge that is the first and main reason to incorporate.

I have remained a Sole Proprietor since 1995. When I purchased my first Pro I used the number from my City of Raleigh business license. At that time they also wanted a website. I'm an engineer so I used ASME (Amer Soc Mech Eng). This was 2.5 to 3 years ago when the certification process was more stringent. But, as with most regulating bodies, more regs are written in the beginning than can ever be enforced in the long run.
