Anyone else registering 3D domains?

It seems that 3D is going to be the the next must have technology, according to the big brands, they are all launching 3D TVs.

I attempted to find good 3D names but the best domains are already taken, I think in 5 years time or even less, those generic 3D domains will be worth a lot. :imho:

Anyone else registering 3d domains? Do you think they have a future?

Here's a list of some of the 3-D Domains I regged -- have some more, but plan to develop those --- could be just a trend, but just in case these 3-D names grow in valuation, great - if not, well, that's the way it goes) thanks ---

the 3 (dash) d?... i'm glad i didn't go there.. i regged maybe two that way on like the first day and luckily stopped... i guess this is one of those 'time will tell' things, but i'm out on those

Nobody has any feedback for:

III D Games.com

?

I guess what i'm most curious about is HOW do you think the search engines will read this?... stupid kind of question, i guess... but ... ok.. . do you think/know that the engines are designed to read and understand roman numerals in their results? (See... good domain name information from whoever gives it :))

That's easy wait about 1- 2 years
One or two years is an impossible timeframe for that kind of market penetration. There are many forces at play preventing this.

The types of domains you are getting require the technology to go very deep. You are looking at holding your domains for 10 years, and it is uncertain what their status will be come then.

As far as I can tell this is the business model of most people investing in 3D domains.

1.) Buy lots of 3D domains
2.) ...................
3.) Make lots of money

All they need to do is figure out step 2 and they are set.

Brad

That's easy wait about 1- 2 years
If only domaining was that easy... let's review this bold statement in a year or two.

More realistically:
2.) ................... find another bigger sucker

This is not about being more clever it's about having a vision and investing in it.
Vision ? I say mirage.

Hey you have been in the game for 10 years what was you biggest seller?
It's unimportant because it was not a 3D domain and I now realize I am a sore loser.

Not the way I see it 3D is moving very quickly this will either go in 2 years or it won't go at all.
3D animated sites are already being made as I showed you a few pages ago.

I can see some of these 3D names having some value but I also see many which prob. don't/won't.

The closest thing to a 3D name I own is VIDDD.com, all variations regged for what its worth.

The hairdo is great we tried and could only get wigs
Rachel Welch has a line of wigs and it;s a big business.

Makeovers can be the body the home just about anything can be made over 400 million results on google for makeover great possibility,

Good one OT

Thanks for the complement, it counts a lot coming from someone who’s been fighting all the experts here. :)

Although I don’t agree with the naysayers as to the future potentials of 3d domains, but when it comes to domaining in general they have made some good points, If you can manage to get a bunch of first or second tier domains that are perfectly suited to the practical and popular uses of 3d technology then you will be in a very strong position when 3d becomes more mainstream, but you got to be careful not to get too carried away because you might get stuck with a bunch of third and forth tier domains that nobody wants even if 3d becomes popular. For every domain that you register (or buy in the aftermarket) you got to do some research and analysis as to its usefulness and popularity, there are basically two types of domains, brandables and the generics, brandables usually don’t have too many searches associated with them, but they look catchy and attractive (like: Jet Blue), generics on the other hand are usually plain keywords that get searched a lot (like: Cars or Homes), some companies might also take a generic keyword and make it into a brand (like: Apple). Most domainers try to get generic keywords that have high search numbers although some who are creative enough might come up with a few brandables (non TM ones) that they can sell to new businesses. Since most of the 3d applications are kind of new there might not be a lot of searches associated with them yet, but if you can find a popular keyword that is suited to the 3d technology then logic says that people are probably going to start searching for the 3d version of that keyword in the near future when 3d becomes more mainstream, that’s why I got 3dHomeTheater.US because “ home theater “ already gets around 500k monthly searches so it’s safe to assume that a great number of those people might search for “ 3d home theater “ in the near future (if not already).

Also you need to keep in mind that the number of monthly searches for a certain keyword is different than the number of search results for that keyword.

You can see the number of monthly searches if you use the google keyword tool:

Be sure to choose exact under the match type dropdown menu in order to get more accurate numbers.

You can see the search result numbers at google.com by searching for a keyword or phrase in quotes ( quotation marks “ --- “ ), you might want to go past the first few pages because sometimes the search numbers drop down drastically from what it showed initially.

You can also use google insights for further analysis of keyword search history and regional popularity:

First rule of domaining is to go with your own gut feelings, but make sure you know the basics and pay attention to what other more experienced domainers are saying (the ones that don’t have a hidden agenda that is :)).

(just my opinion)

Don't forget this: the 3D niche is far larger then 3D vision. That's why the 3D keyword, IMO, has value in the next years to come. Just to wait and see. ;) lol

ps: Crap keywords with 3D on it = still crap!

I rather stick with better keywords like real estate. :)

3d-RealEstate .com

Homes-3d.com

I'm saving up to setup my tLD .3d and kick all y'all's a$$e$. It's going to monitor the sites to make sure they aren't parked and fulfil the standard web3dhtml protocol.

That's a "vision". The rest of this is all mostly BS.

I nearly registered 11DTV.com because that's the limit of M-theory... which means I will be the last one to make money from this dimension thing. I rule! (except it was taken)

So was eleventhdimension.com so I am thinking of getting typo traffic at eleventhdimention.co

This thread gets dafter every time I see it. There are maybe a few names that have potential the rest are a complete waste of money and will be dropping in 12 months when those that were caught up in the hype realise they have bought pups.

And yes, I do have some 3D names for those that refer to the thread title "Anyone else registering 3D domains? " and even if I had not I would still have the right to reply- unless the democratic rules have changed :?

Caveat emptor!

I think it's funny Im saying these names will be worth huge cash and you are saying there worthless.
I agree some like letsgotoa3dmovie.com will be a 0 but the sports3dtv.com will most certainly sell for good money. I am dead sure bondage3dtv will net over 6 figures when some goof buys a 20k
3d video camera and needs a 3dbondage site. He will have only 4 good top names to pick.

Good luck 90K is a good price

this industry will be huge, regged over two years ago with the option of dropping price anytime .
to major broadcaster this is peanuts , it is only a broadcaster price is aimed at, sky are already preparing to broadcast 2012 olympics in 3d , plus other events including soccer

........all those bondages things poking out at you ? ........LOL

I already have homesforsale3d.com its long but good
that looks like a good one, I had 3dHomesForSale on my list, but I also thought that it might be too long, but after looking at the search numbers for "homes for sale" I decided to go ahead and get it. A lot of people who are looking to buy homes probably like to see them in 3d. IMO

3D bondage ? How is that relevant ? Probably as relevant as 2D bondage.
If you are going to stick '3D' to just any keyword that won't produce a lot of meaningful combos.

BTW you should also register 3dbondagetv.com in order to corner the huge, upcoming '3D bondage' market.
6 figures easily, that's the bare minimum. We all sell at least one name for 6 figures every week, it is the norm these days. Check dnjournal if you don't believe me.

Hmmm.

I wonder if 3dTrainWreck.com is available and maybe its cousin TrainWreck3d.

I can see it now TrainWreck3d: The Movie, starring Froy, the uber-domainer.

Too bad, Froy; you missed out on a great deal. I just raised my price to $2,000,000.

Alas.
