I just tried this and worked the code that you have to call them in with is "Stay Cool" Kotan posted it above. My wait time was only 5 minutes and it was a pretty quick thing.

I'm desperate. I'll do it. Is this a 1-800 number? Coz if it will cost me 12 bucks while on-hold for 5 minutes, this is crazy.

The "code" phrase has been posted ("stay cool"). It was posted on the one deal forum I checked, but it has not hit front page. I assume because it requires calling...

Thanks worked for me just now on a dot com renewal.

I am only trapped into renewing there once or twice a year. The process gets worse every time.

If it makes you feel any better, I can't help but feel this was a way to farm phone numbers or at least confirm people's contact info is correct. (Before anyone claims "private number", that doesn't apply with toll free calls.)

Maybe they caught a few people using codes on multiple accounts by tracking who called in with multiple $1 purchases.

IMO it wasn't worth it at all. It would have been better if they had made the call valid for transfers/renewals.
