The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Currently on Sedo auctions:

networkdata dot in $1500
privatenetwork dot in $1500
xxxwebsite dot in $100
hotelcasino dot in $100
premiums dot in $200
ereaders dot in $160
allbets dot in $500
allbids dot in $500

But all are from the same seller... Nevertheless, this contributes to the visibility of .in !

Noticed that too, looks very fishy since most the names have all been regged recently.

might be someone hoping to get another bid here and there? And since Sedo only tells you to go ahead and sue the non buyer after failed transaction there are not much consequences to be expected - smells like a two man job or one man being two man job indeed :D *push to auction 2011* LOL

But maybe it's legit! My friend had 4 .asia's send to auction by the same buyer last year all in $x.xxx range, so it's possible...

The most likely fact is that the giant is awakening!

Corporate India seems to be understanding the value of domains now and that can only be a good thing from our perspective. And if there's one thing to be said about Indian businesses, once they understand the value of anything, they move fast and quite decisively.

Not saying that there aren't 'fishy' auctions, but from tracking sedo sales over the last 6 months I can say you'd be surprised with the kind of names that sedo does sell, not to mention the prices some of them get.

Some .in sales from sedo which I haven't seen reported:

est.in (500 USD)
residence.in (1,110 USD)
flirting.in (2,700 USD)

If you're investing in .in domains, this article will explain the value proposition to you a lot better than anything else you probably read: http://blog.logicboxes.com/2011/06/17/india-the-internets-next-billion/

What do you think about the new gTLDs? Will they impact in any way .IN/.CO.IN in your opinion?

You can read:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13835997

These new gTLD are hard to obtain:

"The higher standards, said Mr Tonkin, meant the application process would be extremely rigorous.

"Using a real estate analogy, it would be roughly the equivalent of getting approval to build a sky scraper."

They are very expensive:

"It will cost $185,000 (£114,000) to apply for the suffixes" (+ annual fees)

And even if a company named Toto obtains .toto, they still need to have toto.com, toto.net and toto.ccTLD

So, negligible impact in my opinion.

Also, nationalism+ geo factors will drive .in growth irrespective of these new, rickety extensions. .co barely made it out of zap zone!kind of a sweet pain for me to see NP members join the .CO drive but its been at least a decent success. new extensions are often money makers for verisign and its related partners.

Yeah, saw that. Ironic that the start bid is way higher than what hosting sold for. Some interesting sales from Sedo:

quelle.in $2,160
Created On:28-Sep-2010 ??!!!

vod.in $2,100
That's a nice one, video on demand.

Coincidentally, Hosting.CO is being auctioned at Sedo (currently at $16,000).

MarketingFirm.IN on auction at Sedo ($500).

Doesn't sedo charge $150 as min commission on Indian names if they are not parked and without a BIN?
Is there a cheaper platform for in names where we can try selling?
