Any thoughts on the value of FreeDiner.com are welcome. Sedo advised me to showcase it for approx. $ 3,000. The only party who benefited was Sedo. I did not sell the domain name. I did'nt even receive an offer.

---- Research ----

- Domain Availability - (Using http://domainsite.com)

Domain Availability shows your potential selling power of the domain. If the domain is so popular that people would register even TLD's of lower value, then that shows strong selling power should you decide to sell it on the name alone.

Below is your Availability Report...

(So you are the only person to reg a name like this in the say...8-12 years that someone could of registered domain names. I can't say much for it's sell points here.)

- KeyWord Selector Tool - (Using http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/)

The KeyWord Selector Tool is an awesome utility found at the site listed above for seeing everyday use of keywords or terms. If your term(s) has an everyday use of more then 1,000 searches that will usually raise the value of your name to most people IMHO. I usually grade keywords +$2.50 every 5000 searches done that month for it.

2660 diner dash free download
2633 diner dash free
1544 free diner dash game

As far as typing in free diner as one search term, the searches reflect the 0 regged names as usual. That is to say if no names were registered thats usually a reflection of why no overture searches shows up or vice versa.

The only thing left to do now is overture search the individual names, 'free' and 'diner'.

514723 free (Killer keyword!)
22320 diner (So-so keyword, more people are searching for a game called dinerdash? lol)

When I try to grade a name on two keywords I do so by giving the first keyword the value I would as if it were just that as the domain name.

So $257 for just free.com alone on this keypoint. Obviously free.com would sell for butloads more on other factors, but as far as overture is concerned to a reseller I would value it at this point. Now when you add a second term, word, whatever it is, it has to match with whatever your selling. Just because it has high overture doesn't mean it's going to make a good domain name. So for example, a domainname I bought a while ago, traveljapan.cc, I forgot my own rules, travel and japan and traveljapan together have great overtures separate and apart, it made it a tempting target, however, I forgot that the .cc TLD acts as a third keyword in this case, , which might stand for creditcard or what not, which greatly raises my risk of being able to sell it for resale (I lossed $15 on my investment there), because of the fact there is 3 terms. With this in mind, the value of diner alone is $11.16 standalone. See the gap between the values guess what I do. $256-$11.16=$244.86 LOSS from adding second term. Imagine what would happen if this were dinerfree.com lol. You'd be in the negative values here quite a bit. Order does make a difference. Though I have seen domain names with low first word overture make a comback from being very relevent together due to special circumstances as I can explain later.

So in all reality your terms together probably have a value of $256-$244.86 for $11.16. Remember that when doing calculations here to keep in mind relevence of terms before actually regging the names as I will explain in the next section.

- Relevence of Terms(s) [If multiple keyWords, or 3-4 LETTER based] -

If your domain name had multiple keywords this section is the research done to see the different potential meanings your domain name could have and the value IMHO I think would be the best way to sell it on versus others.

Remember all that two term three term stuff I talked about in the last section?

Well lets think about free and diner for a moment and think of what possibilities there actually are!

Well the first thing that comes to my mind is a site that will be some kind of directory of all free diners. Cool, a directory for free diners! Wait...free diners? What diner would work for free? I don't know... But before I totally negate the fact that it's possible, because who knows, lets do some google searches to see if there are diners who do free deals. Also another sell point before I do this that is possible with this name is maybe diners that are free of some comglomorate overlooking it, that is diners that aren't jack in the box, carls jr. mcdonalds etc. Mom and Pop shops could be classified as freediner(s), in which case the plural REG here might have more value. If you going to spend any time investing in this name you might as well grab the plural to cover your bases. Don't worry I won't touch it =).

Well I'm back, after looking out there that stupid game seems to be taking all the top pages, not a good sign for you, but I did see another site that gave me a great idea for you that I did not think of initially.

http://www.superbrewards.com/rd_p?p=96980&t=1728&a=free dinner

This site lets you print coupons for major businesses to get free stuff at them. I think there site would do better with a name like freediner, I will mention more about this later in another section. But at least there is one other site that uses those terms together for some kind of profit (we hope). I think since one site did it though, you could sell as a coupon site and use that as your major sell point. I think that would give you more value then my other ideas.

- Google Searches (http://google.com) -

Google Searches shows the use of the word in everyday language and how likely someone is to see the word therefor and consider your name for sale or for personal use. Google searches of multiple terms are done using quotes now to accurately see exact uses of the phrase and just the two terms together.

Results 1 - 10 of about 9,280 for "free diner". (0.44 seconds

(Yeah the searches for free diner are pretty pitiful, and that game shows up first?)

(I did notice smoke free diners, which might be an interesting reg to someone for creating a directory of restuaraunts that are smoke free, although, there doesn't seem to be any searches for that, you never know, to you crazy speculators out there reading. Maybe a possiblity? It's too bad it's a 3 word domain name which entails high risk.)

(Anyways back to topic, I would say you lose considerable value here, there is almost no market at all to sell to, your only selling point now is other sites or development factors)

- Sites Found Using the Name (Terms) -

The purpose of this section is to examine sites that use your name. If there are sites already using your name with TLD's of higher or lesser value then yours, your name has good potential selling power to those companies.

http://www.superbrewards.com/rd_p?p=96980&t=1728&a=free dinner

Again only site I could find that could have any relevance, might try selling to them or copying there model. I would NOT sell your name on it's overture, REG TLD value or GOOGLE results to them. This is what you call a speculation domain which holds negative value to a reseller like me. I didn't think this initially going in, but after doing some research it looks like it's not as strong as I thought or perhaps...you thought?

Anyways, I would sell on the developmental ideas, and make it a unique name like any other business, because it does have some interesting relevance of terms value if developed in the right way before selling. It has marketing value that is to say. Sell on this point.

- TLD - (Top-Level Domain) Value

My assessment is based on my personal experience in selling domain names.

In general the TLD's below have more positive value then other TLD's. Most other TLD's IMHO have negative value to most general names.

.COM names +$3.00 or + 3% of total value

.NET names +$1.50 +1.5% of total value
.ORG names +$1.00 +1% of total value
.BIZ names +$.20 or +.20% of total value
.US names +$.10 or +.10% of total value
.CC names +$.5 or +.5% of total value
.INFO names +$.1 or +.1% of total value

Though the value of the TLD's is also dependent on the name and the use of the TLD with it.

In most cases however, the .COM, .NET and .ORG are the way to go for general purpose names.

(You obviously own the .COM, so +$3.00 here)

---- Value ----

Domain Availability Value - >-$10

Pricing Guide: No other registered TLD's, no resell value.

KeyWord Selector Value ->+$5.58

Pricing Guide:$11.16-(half this number for no direct searches), so 11.16-5.58.

Relevance of Terms Value ->+$50

Pricing Guide:The terms here imply possibly 3 different things, so it's not very specific but if developed to one of those ideas could make this name considerably value, I have to give you at least +$50 in resell speculative market value here (from experience in selling domains that are speculative like this) and +$150-$250 more if you develop it using that coupon idea.

Google Searches Value- >-$70

Pricing Guide: I was going to give -100 here, but I realize that google adsense showed a simalair site using those search terms above this more popular game, so I gave you 30 credits there. As a gerneral rule of thumb I give +$5 for every 300,000 sites that use the 'exact' term.

Sites found using the name Value ->+$5

Pricing Guide: I found one site :)

TLD Assesment Value ->+$3

Pricing Guide: standard .com, fits it fine.

---- Estimated Value ----

Final Value:-16.43

---- Recommendation----

That is the value I place it as currently undeveloped and just as the name. This is from a resellers point of view. I would have an extremely difficult time selling that IMHO, which probably explains your no offers. Developed that site would go into the green easily in the $50-$100 range, and would be a nifty site, but just the name IMHO as no value but actually negative value.

I would develop your site, and reg the other TLD if your serious, but in all reality I would sell it ASAP on the speculative ideas I showed you. It's possible you might get lucky and get a sale here in the $5-$10 range or maybe more if he's a newbie =). Find a stupid guy like me when I was a newbie and I might have paid $50.

Good luck with your domain name.

You are allowed to use this appraisal to sell your domain name and I hope you do so. It's completely free of charge or problems! I do ask if your nice like me =), to let people know about StateExams.Org if they need information on passing state exams or know a state licensing business. Though it isn't required.

P.S I guess you woudn't want to use this appraisal =P.

Without being fancy like Joe :p, I would say that low-mid $XX undeveloped.

yeah I don't think it's worth $3000 at all is basically what I was getting at.

Not intending to discount Joe's approach but one of the truest indicators of value is the sale price of comparable domains. This approach is based on real people putting down hard-earned dollars for an equivalent domain. The challenge/skill is in judging what domains are equivalent and then accounting for factors that affect value. That said, a single sale is not sufficient to estimate value but may still be helpful:

ComfortDiner.com sold for $480 on Afternic in March.

Cheers,
