domain Yahoo Dir. listed domain

In your opinion, what's the value of a domain name just for its Yahoo directory listing? I can't give out too many details as the domain name is currently sitting in the redemption period however I have backordered it. Anyone have a ballpark figure? The domain isn't all that great but I guess it's the listing in Yahoo and DMOZ that count.

Many domains listed on different search engines drop everyday and are not hard at all to acquire and some go for less then reg fee. Use your backorder for something else.

thanks, that's what I figured, but I've got another use for this domain so I'll keep it and the fact that it's listed near the top in Yahoo for its specific category will help me gain more visitors.

It is listed in DMOZ and Yahoo Dir.

I don't think its worth it. I would just pay for a listing if i was so desperate.

I think if the domain name is listed in Dmoz and Yahoo it would be worth at least $20+ --- $10 per listing I guess.

But it also depends on the keywords in the domain name and what it was used for in the past.

If you are only going to park it on a PPC then I would not pay more then $20-$30 for it as a gamble.

If you think it is a strong useful and brandable domain name with out the Dmoz and Yahoo listings then it may be worth more to you.

Have you checked the history of the domains google PR some times I have found domains with PR 5 and if I get the domain setup quickly the PR has stayed in tacked..

Also have you checked with alexa.com to see how many other sites are linking to the domain..

Yahoo traffic converts well, but they've been sifting through their sites lately and are dropping a ton. The DMOZ listing will give the domain solid PR help. But unless I see the domain and its market potential, it is very hard to give an accurate appraisal.

The listing(s) makes it more attractive to potential end users, but don't solely rely on that -- make sure it's a usable name as well...
