Can any one please appraise

Characters.ws

I think it's a good domain and most of the other, like .in, .info, etc... are taken.

Its not bad, but unfortunately .ws domains are a non starter in terms of resell value.

Developing these is usually the best way to increase its value.

Otherwise low - mid $xx (but you might be lucky to achieve more than $20 for it)

.ws really is a poor TLD whatever the keyword IMHO
Low-$$ I guess

Underestimated .ws ...

I think .ws is underestimated. Investments are too in the long run.

Can do a lot with that domain. Ws is better than other extensions like
cc, bz, at, be or those who are not known since ws can be marketed as website, made nicely in a logo etc.
(Just like my LovePoems.pl which I made a quite nice extension symmetry logo on, though the site is not out yet.)

I say $xxx for end users and for others low $xx.

Thanks, I think the same. .ws are great. Just a lot of people don't like them, cause their not .com. pfft. If I don't sell it, I got a bunch of ideas, that I can use it for a website.

If you can get a good keyword in .ws then well worth developing because google won't mind it isnt .com

At the moment I think .ws domains need to be developed and ideally searched for keywords.

Well I don't think exotic TLDs are going to appreciate significantly even in the long term.
In the example you quoted above .be & .at (have you ever been there ? .be & .at everywhere) are much better than .bz or .ws because these extensions are very popular in their respective countries.
The value of ccTLDs is in line with factors such as population and economic strength.
Samoa is not exactly a large market and the TLD is not developed enough to make a good investment IMHO, nor are the prospects for growth really exciting.

Now any extension can be marketed as something else .tv being the most famous example perhaps.
But if you trade under an extension like .vg or .ws you will get the second degree all the time. The average person is not familiar with foreign extensions and may think you come from Mars...

To clarify I am not the .com or nothing type ;)
I have domains in about 25 extensions.
But not all ccTLDs are worth the same. I even have a few exotic extensions (to develop for the local markets) but I keep my expectations reasonable.

Any extension is fine for development but for resale you must be picky :)

well, you know what the economists say, the market is determined by margin prices, so exotic TLD's are the margin - the higher they rise, the more .com will gain

If there is very cheap marginal TLD domain available, the dotcom price won't go through the roof. It doesn't make sense to buy DomainNameGuru.com for $10,000 if you can get DomainNameGuru.ws for $10

On the other hand, if the .ws domain costs a lot, the correspondning .com will be astronomical. If DomainNameGuru.ws costs $1,000 then it will make a lot more sense to get the prime real estate - DomainNameGuru.com for $10,000

so let's hope the marginal TLD's do well :)

its not worth much now.. around low $XX but if you keep it for a few years after .ws value rises it will definately be worth much more
