Whoa mama!

Here's the deal...some time ago I set up a forum site Unauthorised.info, which was meant for the discussion of things people were not meant to know (conspiracies etc). For some reason or other I didn't really develop it that much, and I eventually forgot about it altogether (wasn't even sure if the domain was still registered)

I just re-discovered the site, and checked my stats. It's getting over 30,000 unique visitors a month, without me even raising a finger! A quick look at the site tells me that it's filled with spam and porn, but it appears people are actually coming to the site looking for this stuff! (most traffic comes from search engines)

Now, what do I do with this site?

1. clear out all the spam & porn and try and revert it to a proper forum.
2. sell it
3. somehow monetize the site, currently there are no ads on it.

Your opinions & advice would be most appreciated.

Well.... that is interesting. Personally I would nuke it and start over. It doesn't look like there is anything of value there other than a decent amount of traffic. You might be able to monetize it a bit as is, but looks like there are just the "unauthorized" porn posts.

Put some adult affiliate links up...

the traffic will not do you good if it's coming from spambot. turn it into a blog, more controllable than a forum and start all over again.

just slowly wipe the spam, keep the good, and try to continue the active discussions ..

I personally would wipe the existing content, setup a blog at www.unauthorised.info/blog, and 301 redirect incoming traffic to /blog. This way you will not lose any pages or url's indexed in the search engines and hopefully this will preserve the existing traffic you are currently getting. Good luck!

Thanks eveyone. I temp redirected to another domain to take advantage of the traffic. Now why didn't I think of that? :red:
