Ok, here's the deal, I customized a google search engine so that it ONLY spits out results of .tv sites.
It sounds simple but it isn't. If you just go in and tell it to only return ".tv", then in theory that should work but it doesn't.
It searches for your keyword search, let's say "tomato juice". Well the regular google custom search will look for a tv site with the words "tomato juice" in it. If it doesn't find that phrase exactly, then it looks for any relevant site (com or otherwise) with that phrase exactly in it first, and will spit out .tv's as an afterthought. Usually starting at 4th or 5th place at best. Then it will start looking for "tomato" or "juice" on .tv sites.
Unless you are searching for something VERY specifically common on .tv sites, like "video" then the chances are good that you will hit non .tv sites in your results.
What I did was painstakingly add a whole lot of "don't look for this" on the results.
So you could take the code I couph up for the engine, pop it on your site, and have the ability for users search for ONLY .tv sites. You keep them on your site, on a custom results page, looking at your .tv site. You could also just drop in a list of terms for your users to look at that is relevant to your site. Let's say you have a site about Juniper bushes. So somewhere on your site, you have a link that says go here to find out more about
turnips. That links to the search and gives only tv sites about flowers. And maybe you have the top ranking tv site about turnips as well.
It won't matter what the top ranking com, net, info, or org is because you won't be showing that. You will only be showing tv results.
Let's take this as an example:

I searched for dallas lawyer. Since I happen to own dallaslawyer.tv, I happen to be first in the results. So if someone is on one of my other lawyer sites, which tend to be texas related, and they see the handy search at the top with the google logo in it, then they are more likely to use that search.
And they are more likely to find one of my or anyone else's tv site.
So by using this, it's a bit of a mind trick to make people feel good, but also keep the traffic flowing to tv. It may be a little deceptive, but what search engine isn't deceptive to some degree.
