I know this is not a place to make a fortune, but still

Are there exceptional cases and super success stories that you would tell?

Your story would motivate both newbies and gurus

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Not going to happen really, someone might get that one life changing sale that we are all hoping for, but it isn't likely they would share it with the world beyond a few close friends.

Otherwise, the next time they come to bid on a name or show any interest the price will inexplicably treble.

I mean, they can afford it. Right?

If you dig down into various topics such as the short domain section you will see sales of $10,000 or $20,000 occasionally, but if you are having doubts then you should probably stay away and learn and read for a while first.

This is not like an ordinary market where you go to a store and a tin of beans is a rigid price of $1 and never changes...if you are good at negotiation you may be able to get it for half that, or even have the shopkeeper giving it for nothing. If you are crap you will have to remortgage the house and choose which children not to send to college.

You may have a domain that you cannot do a thing with, an experienced person might turn around and sell it for $15,000 after you let it drop.

The point of this is that anyone can get that domain at any time, but if you don't know what you are looking for and cannot tell people what they should see in the domain then it won't happen.

Yep, that's a boat I missed out on. I was trying to convince my dad at one point to buy out the last 800 ALLL.com (every LLLL starting with A) but a few days later they were gone.

I made a fortune here...of knowledge.

I find this place to be a great place for knowledge and learning, as well as selling SOME domains, but I don't look at NamePros as the type of place to work full-time at selling domains :D.

I have, however, found GREAT names on here. Names that I wouldn't consider to be a fortune, but still profitable. At the same time, i'm not the biggest domainer around here. I know there are guys profiting off namepros :D

When I first got into this I would see fantastic names constantly that I would have to buy (I didn't) and didn't really have a clue about what I was doing...

Compare that with what I did tonight, going through a list of 11,000 domains and only finding 14 that could have some commercial benefit to anyone. Thats 0.001% that might be worth a punt on.

This forum helps you know what to focus on like no other.

Knowledge is power, but no knowledge on the earth is going to stop the power of a magic bullet.

Yes! ... My fortune has been made in knowledge. Knowledge
I've taken to many venues, sold many names for many dollars.

This is a true life long fortune I will never be with out. And we
haven't even addressed the wealth in friendships and community.

However to more directly address you Q: Namepros is a home
to domain resellers whom will pay much less for a property
than an end user. Thus the paradigm exist that though there
is a lot of business done here the percentage of high value
sales are low by comparison. With no escrow service NamePros
can not transact high value names in it's venue. Now the NPs
"Business" members may have that option I'm not aware of.
