Who else has experienced this?

Hello everyone,

Has anyone observed this before ? Just some minutes ago, I found a name Available using Instantdomainsearch and submitted it to squadhelp as Unregistered and its currently pending approval.

Then I ought I should research further on the name when I discovered that it has been taken in almost all extensions.

I searched for the same .com extension on whoislookup lo and behold, it has been taken.

I searched again on dofo, even estibot why trying to check the search volume and it showed available. no

Then, I decided to register it myself at Dynadot and was told it has been taken.



My questions are below;

1. If the domain has been taken since as alleged by dynadot and whoislookup, why then did show it show available at dofo, estibot and Instantdomainsearch

2. Why then did Squadhelp accept it as unregistered ? Squad help could have said " This domain has already been taken "

3. Why is estibot still showing that .com and us are both available ?

What could be the ulterior motive why am been deprived of registering this gem ?

Has anyone experienced this ??

Because when you really need to see if a domain is available you trust services that their main job is exactly that.
Squadhelp trust that you know what you are doing
Estibot's job is appraising
the others you mentioned quickly show you an estimation of availability and can never guarantee 100% accuracy.

Only registrars can really give you accuracy and, even them, sometimes are wrong which means that the best thing to do is to use multiple registrars to be sure.

There is no ulterior motive in what you experienced

Domains go quickly, there a millions of people actively searching, buying, and selling domains. It is a possibility the domain had dropped recently. Care to share what the domain was? Otherwise share the registration time, you can see this by going to any whois service.

@Hypersot are you insinuating that one can now submit a registered name as unregistered at Squadhelp and they would accept that? Are you aware that the have different reviews for the duo? So dofo, estibot and instantdomainsearch can no longer be trusted why checking domain availability ? Unless, there is error somewhere

Bro, according to whois it was registered since 1997 and would drop 05/05 2020.

Even at this moment its still showing available. I tried visiting it but the DNS keeps failing.

Most likely, the name was never available.

There is no ulterior motive. This happens & has been discussed many times on the forum.

You can try using gwhois.org for a live query, thus if they support the extension you are searching

It is hard to give a definite answer without knowing the name.

@tldboss Thank you for the enlightment. Nevertheless, I am curious to know why squadhelp also accepted this name as unregistered. Can you also take me on this? Has anyone successfully submitted registered name as unregistered and have it waiting approval?

@wurdd someone here said that Estibot, Instantdomainsearch and dofo can not be 100% trusted when checking domain availability, that its only a registrar that can be 100% accurate, then I asked him why Squadhelp accepted this said name as an Unregistered.

Instantdomainsearch.com normally show about to drop names as available then changes to unavoidable.after some time

Our data on Dofo is mainly based on the zone files.

*A zone file is a file that all registered domain names are listed for each extension.

We do additional instant checks for domain availability (whois, DNS, etc.) for maximum accuracy, but it seems we failed on this domain name. Sorry about that. (The mentioned domain name is registered for more than 23 years, as shown on the whois.)

Alright guys. I have shown dofo CEO @Macit the name privately and he confirmed it was error from their end that the said domain has been registered since 1997
