Hi all, I have just bought a domain name and was wanting to check if it holds any trademarks, is there somewhere I can check online to cover everywhere or will I need to do a check in all the different countries?

Any help or suggestions what to do and where to check would be really appreciated.

Thanks all

You can check at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which their website is located at http://www.uspto.gov :tu:

Best of luck to you. :)

Most likely if you have a .com you should only have to check US but it is always a good idea to keep out of trouble and check all of them.

The usa link from above seemed to check out ok (thanks Chris & Snoopy) but I think I will have to check alot more over the next few days just to make sure before I try to sell it to anyone !

I must say this is a really good forum - lots of help and good advice (needed as I am a Total newby to this !!) - I have been doing alot of reading here over the last week but not much talking !!

You might find it surprising to learn that the best free trademark search tool
around is google itself.

Don't forget tho that a name doesn't have to be registered to be protected under common law... make sure you do your research thoroughly.

Don't assume (for example) that because there are already 100 other celebrity sites out there, it's ok. Most celebrity names will be protected under common law at the very least.
