Weird vertical expansion

ok guys, I have another problem with this...
Just so ya know, I didn't make the template, because if I did I could of solved all these problems myself
(Also, photoshop and dreamweaver suck at exporting... their html is horrible, which is what the person that made me the template used)

Anyways, I noticed that if my content area goes off the screen, the left menu and bottom footer get distorted.

That link looks normal, because the text doesn't go off the screen. Now if you look at

You can see that the whole site(left menu and footer) get distorted and look absurd.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
P.S. - If I find alot more things like this... I'm gona trash the html code and make my own that works correctly I'm a php programmer but doesnt mean I dont know html!

the content and the menu are using the same table so the table enlarges to fit in the extra text.

I would suggest changing it so the content is in a different table than the menu

yea, I know but there should be another way to fix it w/o having to add another table right?
I will rewrite the html later, but right now im busy trying to finish the php for all this :P
