WEIRD Firefox Browser Issue at NP site

When I use Firefox at the NP site and open up a thread to read, multiple "artifacts" of the "Smiley" box- (the vert. and horiz. scrollbars) - appear and run through all of the posts. See atts for examples.

I use the Firefox version for Mac OSX 10. I don't have this problem using IE, and nothing like this occurs at any other site other than NP. I believe I have iso'd the problem down to a JavaScript issue/bug w/ the site and the Mac OSX ver of Firefox. However, I'm not sure, and thought that this might be a good place to brainstorm and get some possible solutions that I could bring to -RJ-.
Any ideas?
BTW the vert scroll bar operates- ie can move it up and down. :-/

I reckon it's a Mac problem.

That's all I can come up with.

Try reporting it to bugzilla.

-RJ- has given me the java script for the Smiley box/bars, so by trial and error, I will try to see what the MacOS X10 version of Ffx doesn't like about it. If there is anyone who is adept at writing java script in the house, I'd appreciate any insight/s you might be willing share. Also, wonder if anyone else out there w/ MacOSX 10.3+ and Ffx has this issue or if running IE, could check and see what they get w/ Ffx?

Unless I misread this, it says not to download if you are currently using Ffx 1.0x. Does this mean that Ffx should be uninstalled or that Ffx should not be running during dload? I love open source, w/ one exception: their instructions are often cryptic, sometimes difficult to find and interpret, and sometimes the file paths they show - particularly w/ Mac, at least, are wrong or outdated. Will have to dig around more over there to discover what they mean about not downloading if you are using 1.0x.
I did download their latest 5/11 version, however, that did not correct the prob.

Basically Deer Park is a preview test for 2.0. I am using it right now and it is really great and I have not noticed one bug in it yet. If you just download the install and use the installer you won't have to do anything more.

OK. Tx for the tip. I'll just disregard their warning. Maybe a typo or maybe they are being overly cautious or maybe I misread.

They discourage use of the alpha versions for current users of Firefox. That's why they give it a funny name too. I was having some glitches with the previous version so I went ahead and installed the Deer Park Alpha version. It's been running fine for me.

Can you import current Ffx settings? I take it having both on them on the same OS does not create any conflicts. ??

Not sure. I installed right over the top of my current FireFox installation and everything started up with my same data, bookmarks, passwords. I had a few extensions (add-ons) that don't run with the new version, but other than that is all the same.

Tx Didn't realize it was an overlay. I'm on my way over there now and will report back about the j-script prob.

Well, the good news- with Deer Park I'm not seeing the scroll bar/Java scrpt prob.
Now the bad news. I have no scroll bars, the tables are all messed up, the text is weird, and it didn't integrate w/ my existing Firefox. Must be that the MacOS version is "more" beta than the PC version. See att.

I'm going to take the java script snippet to Bugzilla, reference the NP site, and see if they can figure something out.

I have FF 1.04 and DPa1 installed along side each other. You just can't have them both open at the same time.

Oh, and I'm on WinXP, with no problems.
